Monday, September 17, 2012 4:54:59 AM Not only did he not punch/kick her in the face... he didn't strike her at all. The cop did not use any excessive force. He did make a bad call in taking her to jail. His judgement should be seriously questioned for wasting his time and our money on this old hag. There were several other actions he could have taken before taking the action he did. He was just following the process without regard to the actual severity of the situation. He should have also pointed out that her cooperation would aid him in letting her go take a piss sooner. |

Saturday, September 15, 2012 4:15:46 PM While her certainly got hot very quickly she was definitely not cooperating. Both could have handled this better but she was in the wrong more so than he was. He just let her get to him and went from zero to pissed in one sentence. That is enough to worry me when you have someone who works "for the people." |

Saturday, September 15, 2012 2:09:00 PM pak - man, Your comment has no point. Yes, drugs are illegal, rightfully or not (this isn't a good venue for that debate), and have been known to hurt and even kill people. Same goes for speeding. |

Saturday, September 15, 2012 11:23:39 AM I guess I missed the excessive force. Plenty of douchebaggery but no excessive force. |

Saturday, September 15, 2012 12:01:58 AM I read the news story about this. Someone who claims to know them both posted a comment basically saying the cop is a really nice guy, and the old lady is a nasty bitch. Here's the quote from "Cheli": First of all, I know both the officer and Mrs. Bedford personally I worked in Keene and they both were my customers. I know for a fact that Gene is an excellent police officer and was always there when we need him! He is always kind and caring! Mrs. Bedford on the other hand was always rude, inpatient, and intolerant! When we would ask her questions about what she needed she was always so hateful, so this does not surprise me one bit...

Friday, September 14, 2012 10:44:42 PM When the cop says "give me your license & Reg" you give it! Suck it up idiots! What makes people think they are entitled to special treatment just because you are a bit older?????? Seniors can be just as bad or worse than anyone else. Maybe she has a history of being difficult, maybe she has been suspended from driving because she's on a bunch of meds or has a heart condition. These are the things they won't tell you because it would totally ruin the "sensationalism" of the story. Actually there wouldn't be a story would there? |

Friday, September 14, 2012 4:16:00 PM Why is it so difficult for some people to just do what the officer asks them to do? He's just doing his job, why try to make them mad? |

Friday, September 14, 2012 1:00:30 PM For the most part, I have found that DFW cops are understanding and willing to assist as long as you are polite and courteous to them.. when you get an attitude, that's when the hammer comes out. This lady most definitely deserved what she got. |

Friday, September 14, 2012 12:58:36 PM Its not 'excessive force' he told her to get out of her vehicle several times which she did not do he can use reasonable force to remove her from the car when she isn't complying with orders, if this had been anyone younger there wouldn't have even been so much as a short article about it. If old people want to drive like the rest of us then they have to comply with the same things. |

Friday, September 14, 2012 12:35:19 PM Old people think they can get away with anything. I worked in a customer service job for 6 years, and they always acted so stuck up. Their mentality is "You should respect your elders." Nope. The same rules apply to everyone. |

Friday, September 14, 2012 12:11:53 PM I'm not a big fan of the cops but I don't think there's anything wrong here. He asked for the license & registration, she said she has to go to the bathroom, he asked again, she said she'll get it when she's ready, he asked again adding that if she didn't she'd go to jail, she told him to go right ahead and do it. She was wrong and acting like a bitch right off the bat. Case closed. Next. |

Friday, September 14, 2012 12:07:03 PM on a more serious note if she had simply handed him her license and registration and explained to him as she was doing so that she has a bladder infection (truth or not) and really needed to get to a restroom or home he probably would have let her go with a written warning. |
