Friday, September 14, 2012 9:52:43 PM nothing a jeep cant do, so why bother? @Quactor: In case you were serious: Jeeps cannot travel where this thing can! Jeeps cannot drive themselves. Jeeps are bigger, noisier and get worse gas mileage (Humvees I mean). Jeeps cannot dance... |

Thursday, September 13, 2012 6:25:38 PM "It's a lot better than a horse or mule in many ways." Well, you can't f_ it, so it fails the Army's spec. |

Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:33:18 PM "DARPA is back and it's new and improved!" Uh... DARPA is the government agency that helped fund the project to build this robot. DARPA never "left" either. In fact, ARPA (which became DARPA) funded the ARPANET back in the 1960s and '70s, which is the basis for the Internet and Internet protocols we now use today. So, you're using the results of one DARPA project to show the results of another DARPA project. |

Thursday, September 13, 2012 11:48:23 AM That's cool at poo. And the fact that you can actually hear the footsteps shows that it's not incredibly loud. |

Thursday, September 13, 2012 11:10:42 AM Actually it does not need to be filled with gas every 20 minutes (it's capacity is classified, but I'm betting it's at least 8hrs.) and it's relatively quiet compared to a lawnmower or weed wacker. It's designed to carry half a ton of supplies or to carry a wounded soldier on a stretcher out of harms way. This will help prevent back strain and injuries to our soldiers and can be armed and controlled remotely for reconnaissance. It's a lot better than a horse or mule in many ways. |
