Large amounts of electricity run on Oil or Natural Gas in the USA because people got "scared off" of Nuclear Energy... So try as you might, you cannot avoid Petrolium without living in a cabin in the woods... Also: plastic. |

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 8:37:06 AM @Collegebound: Well all of the plastic you use was crafted from petroleum, so you'd have to throw all that out too. But researchers at Cornell have actually figured out how to make plastic from CO2 and limonene (chemical responsible for scent of orange in cleaners), so maybe sometime down the road plastic will be from renewable sources. |

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 8:35:17 AM @collegebound You need something a fuel to generate electricity guess what some of that is? The roads you drive on the rubber of your wheels it's everywhere around you. |

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 8:33:25 AM Interesting! A few factual errors and some "skimming over" of policies, but a LOT better than other "conspiracy theories". Example: In the 70's the "petro dollar" actually benifited the OPEC nations. Suppose that Libya agreed to sell $4 billion dollars of oil, paid in Drachmas (or whatever currency they use). Come deliver day? Oh my! The "international money lenders" have DE-VALUED the Drachma to 75% of it's former level! You only get $3 billion for your oil, sucker! See? The constant (relatively) US Dollar used to be good for OPEC. Now? Not as much. |

Most of the materials in your car are fossil fuel based materials. All of the materials in your car are crafted using fossil fuels. |

By the way, if you don't think Oil is worth fighting for, try going a single day without it. |

This is one of the best, well written, tin-foil-hat conspiracy theories out there. He makes it all sound so reasonable. But distorted facts and half-truths combined with fantasy figures are still just Tin-foil Hats. |
