I wonder how the GOP missed their chance to nominate this ass hat for president when they had the opportunity.

If you know how the Perry, Santorum, Bachmann, and Gingrich campaigns crashed and burned in the GOP primaries I think you'd know why.

Oh, no sweat. I was raised Protestant (Church of Ireland, basically Irish equivalent to Anglican) but my father was Protestant and my mother Catholic. Though it was never a big deal in our house, when someone asked whether I was Catholic or Protestant, I would have described myself simply as "Christian".

I wasn't brought up in a religious background as a kid - well, apart from sunday school and church every sunday. But it was never really discussed much at home, going to church on sunday was more just "something you did". But I was a MUCH more devout Christian than anyone else in my family, from say age 8 to about 17. Bible Camps, that kinda thing.

Love how the whiny guy's side of the story is just accepted and the wife defined as deeply flawed.

And Pat is clearly regretful that you can't just whup some respect into them anymore.

But Pat does say it's ok to ditch a wife with Alzheimers. So the first time she forgets where she put her purse she's gone.

Pat Robertson is a right wing bigot and does not deserve half the recognition he gets.

It seems easier for me to dislike Pat Robertson. I find him no different than Jim Bakker or Robert Tilton. People like this are charlatans. Televangelists give Christianity a bad name. I know it's not the main reson *cough* (Catholic priests), but they do not help out the cause. Find spirituality or religion inside of you, not from some whack-a-doo on TV.

case in point, being a Christian does not provide you with a good moral compass. People do that on their own...

The bible strongly advocates both sides of most issues

@justahuman: The bible strongly advocates both sides of most issues, making it pointless as a basis for your arguments.. You could justify just about any action through scripture, if you pick your verses carefully..

"Neither sex should take or dole out physical abuse in a relationship."

I rewatched the video. The line is "she even went as far as stretching her hand to beat me." I took that as she stretched out her hand to hit him but didn't. If I was saying someone beat me I'd just say they beat me, not they "stretched out their hand". But I suppose the statement is ambiguous and could be taken either way. I agree that nobody should put up with physical violence or verbal abuse. But the advice Pat is giving goes beyond that and extols the view of the bible that women are property.

My dad let my mom push him around until he got exactly what he wanted.

Pat Robertson is an idiot.

My wife is submissive to me, when it matters. She wants it that way though. I often try and get her to argue with me about philosophy and psychology. I think my wife and I have a wonderful relationship. She seems to like it too, although I annoy her often. XD

So according to @Justahuman, it's right that women shouldn't teach or have authority over a man? It's amazing how the "word of God" usually reflected the cultural norms that were prevalent at that time.

On the other hand, that woman does sound like a real b17ch. But no matter how mean, no b17ch deserves to be brutally subjugated like women are in Saudi Arabia.

Most annoyingly he does avoid what would be a good solution: divorce.

Pat Robertson Tells Man To Move To Saudi Arabia

Seriously IAB? I'm not fan of Pat Robertson (what I hear is 100% courtesy of IAB), but Pat Robertson was obviously JOKING! He does have some good advice like getting a third party involved and (putting it bluntly) grow a pair. Now it does annoy how he masks his own assumptions as the truth and insists on adhering to scripture.

I consider myself a pretty peaceful, nonviolent person. Don't own a gun, don't do martial arts or play computer war games. And then I hear this arrogant, ignorant old fart who has apparently teleported in from the 19th century and I start having sniper fantasies...

Congratulations IAB, you found ambiguity in The Bible but don't understand sarcasm. Your intellect is beyond reproach.

"the verses you quoted didn't really make the one he quoted any better. They say for men to treat their wives well and to love them, sure. But the other verse says that women should be silent and submissive. Men = love your wife. Women = be submissive to your husband and do what he tells you without question. Oh and women are the original sinners not men. Not exactly equal there."

No sin is greater than the other.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned fallen short of the glory of god.= Equality

So two children steal candy but the one who stole first is more of a thief than the other?the original thief is worse? is that your argument? Both man and woman were punished and cast out of Eden=Equality

And in case you missed it.

Eph 5:21

Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. = equality.

Christ died for EVERYONE= equality.
