Good god this is stupid. I don't really care about his job or punishing him, I simply except that he wouldn't be allowed to judge cases with children anymore. This guy is obviously seriously screwed up in the head. He beats the crap out of his girl for the moral equivalent of stealing a grape from the supermarket. I'm sure there's a lot of even worse child abusers than him that he's let go. Nevermind the fact he still doesn't even remotely understand he did anything wrong, and now he still has no reason to. To him the only thing wrong was that his daughter taped him and released the video to the public without his consent. I'm sure he beat the crap out of her for that too. |

Well, judge or not even a family court judge is irrelevant, his daughter should have been taken away, his job should not have. I dont disagree with a spanking or two to discipline a child, but not on a teenager and certainly not with a leather strap |

Not so. They changed the statute of limitations for sexual abuse so this isn't far fetched. Whatever the law this dude should not be a family court judge. In fact he should be fired. Talk about unions? Ha! This makes the unions seem like wussies. |

No, we have statutes of limitations because prosecuting some crimes after a period of time would be extremely counterproductive. |

Child abuse has been shown to cause structural changes in the brain. Victims can't simply choose to put their past behind them when their past has permanently disfigured their grey matter. Many are forced to medicate, and too often they self-medicate using everything from drugs and alcohol, to cigarettes, to food. We should refuse to tolerate child abuse not only because it's morally wrong, but because it generates broken individuals whose pathologies burden society. |

An-egg, of COURSE she did! Do you think that was her first beating?! Are you drating kidding me? Abuse like that only does one thing: it teaches kids to not get caught. That's it. Study after study after study shows that corporal punishment, even open-handed spanking, is ineffective and counterproductive other than in stopping the behavior for that immediate moment. |

Cajun, part of the daughter's moving on was to bring attention to this. You do realize this "man" acted as judge in child custody cases?! Telling his daughter to move on--did you see the beating she took? And that's just one. She was RAISED by that prick. Moving on for her might be becoming strong enough to prevent that abuse from happening to someone else. |

True, but there are ways to deal with with the pain so it doesn't interfere with your life. Like I said I don't approve of the way this treated his daughter, but we have statutes of limitations for a reason. |

While I don't condone the punishment this judge administered to his own daughter, both of them need to move on already. Kid's fine now, she needs to just let go already. Letting the judge resume his practice is a step in the right direction. |
