Sunday, September 09, 2012 10:23:26 AM 5Cats: Yes, it was an anti-nuclear propaganda film, but not just against bombs. It's part of the reason we don't have more nuclear power plants in America. What infuriates me are the 'Green' eco-nuts that demand we stop burning coal and stop using crude oil, but also get their panties in a twist over building clean nuclear power plants. Wind, Solar and Hydro power can't ever reliably meet our current power needs, let alone allow for the growth we will soon need for more electricity. I've linked to and posted information about the thorium fuel cycle and it's promise of cheap, reliable, safe and low-radiation power. We already have the technology to build them, no big scary looking cooling towers will be needed, neither will there be a need for huge containment vessels. Thorium is cheap and plentiful and the 'waste' has a short half-life and is not dangerous. |

Sunday, September 09, 2012 7:15:35 AM @Arcval yes very relevant, I remember as a kid seeing The Day After thinking it was a little depressing, then I saw threads, and was like damn that was hard core, for a 12 year old anyway. |

Sunday, September 09, 2012 5:11:36 AM @5Cats, youre right , it was meant to scare you into an anti nuclear opinion,,they showed it in our chemistry class under the guise of a lesson on fission....LOL (A lot of places wont allow a second "d" as in Goddamndevil, but they will allow Godamndevil..go figure. I do like the "man" alternative.) |

Saturday, September 08, 2012 5:30:20 PM Like @CrakrJak said: it's purpose was to scare people into hating all things "nuclear". Remember that the "anti-nuclear" campaign against cruise missiles and stuff was very common back then. It's just sad that people are SO STUPID they equate nuclear bombs with nuclear power, and now we have wars over oil! Yay! I watched this way back then on TV, it was OK but purely fictional, not "super realistic" like the hype was claiming. Perhaps I'll watch it again, and "Threads" thanks@Godamndevil! Go-damn-devil? God-MAN-Devil (with a typo in "man")?? |

Saturday, September 08, 2012 8:01:52 AM Even when this movie was made it was inaccurate and full of holes. It was made to scare people and it did. Today it's not even as scary as an episode of 'The Walking Dead'. |
