Wars ultimately cost a lot more than they produce. The reason WWII led to a sustainable boom in U.S. and Soviet economy was due to a large chunk of European and English infrastructure being obliterated. After all was said and done, the U.S.S.R. and U.S. were the only countries able to keep up with any kind of demand.
A line graph like this is not very usefull with so many drastic peaks and valleys. The only thing this shows is that the U.S. economy is volatile, but has ultimately sustained itself over the last 25 years. If you were to introduce a line showing the trend, it would be going straight across the board. |

Don't forget to not only look at who was the President at each time. But also who was in control of the House and Senate.
Sometimes a President not only gets all the blame, but all the credit when he has a co-equal branch of government that he is supposed to work with. |

@trippyhippy9: Don't start as many wars? Wars HELP the economy. The last war we were in was WWII and and it helped us get out of the depression. We haven't been in a war since then, only conflicts, which don't really impact our economy. |

Both parties are socially irresponsible. As far as fiscal issues go, the Democrats have the republicans beat. The only reason they have the republicans beat fiscally is because they don't start as many wars.
They are all crooks. None of them have our best interest in mind. Nothing will change for the better until the government is violently overthrown and replaced. |

elkingo, it's not how much money you HAVE, this is a graph of the average rate of change. It doesn't show how that change is different for different income strata.
Furthermore, the statement "Bush's stimulus" compared to the "trillions Obama spent" is simplistic because a lot of that money went to banks and corporations.

The high points in Clinton's economics and the early Bush years should be attributed to the housing boom created by Clinton. Likewise, the crash should also be attributed to Clinton. It is all there in the 1s and 0s. |

This graph wasn't created (I labeled it myself) to "prove" anything. I made it to show historical facts when they occurred and how the economy was when these facts occurred.
The facts are:
1. Clinton economics were no better than Bush economics.
2. Historical facts impact the economy, and are often ignored.
3. Obama is worse for the economy than Bush or Clinton.
If you look farther, you can see what Bush's stimulus did at a fraction of the cost in an effort to save us from the housing market crash as compared to the trillions Obama spent for the same end.

I'm not sure what this is trying to prove. That Bush's stimulus didn't work? Because I sure do see a mighty fall after his stimulus.
2005 "War in Iraq". While the war was going on during that time, it had started like 2 years before that. Knowing that, remember correlation != causation.
Community Reinvestment act didn't seem to help much either, based on this.
