So I suppose you went to the website provided http://www.fingerfunk.se/ARCB/ , downloaded the software and experimented then found it doesn't work?
Or you dismissed it out of hand because it didn't neatly fit into your understanding of the world? Here, let me help...

You need the shirt too, well at least the marker that is on the shirt. That is the anchor point for the virtual model. The camera needs to first detect where to render the alien over the physical world camera feed. So I imagine it is looking for that particular marker and won't work unless you have it.. Well unless it is even more simple by just looking for white with a black box inside. |

Why? Because you are not privy to technology out of your own little hole?
Augmented reality has been around quite a while. The 3ds uses it to a fantastic degree. Ameren UE (Electric company) has it on their website to promote windpower. Also on the Ameren site is the source code to learn how to make your own. Of course it is not a easy language to understand, but doable nonetheless.
