Saturday, September 01, 2012 4:48:08 AM I'm kinda surprised. I've had 2 labs now, both black, and they have been the sweetest. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 11:54:05 PM I have had two black cats, actually prefer them to light coloured. Both loving and sweet creatures. My dog is salt & Pepper. Have heard myths abouth black cats but not dogs! Silly humans. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 7:42:53 PM Including my grey cat, I have 5 cats, but that doesn't mean I'm a right wing nut job. @turdburgler: Slowly the "rightness" will eat away at your brain... either that or brain parasites... I'm loving the happy stories & pictures even! That's what IAB is good for! My first cat was all-black except for a small white "star" (spot) on his chest! He also had 23 toes and was dumb as a rock... Onyx! |

@evam-9 - Thank you. It's true, I am a sucker for animals. One of those cats somehow broke her leg the other day. It cost me over 2,000 for kitty surgery...like I said, I'm a sucker. Also, I didn't put much thought into my screen name. I don't want anyone to take my comments too seriously. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 6:58:11 PM I have a black cat too. Her name is echo and she's a total ninja who loves high places and surprising me. Luckily shes well trained and doesn't leave the kind of surprises you'd expect. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 3:33:51 PM I work at a rescue and a woman once told me she didn't want to adopt a black cat because they don't show up in pictures. It's true, but I honestly thought it was the stupidest excuse I had ever heard. Cats shouldn't be there just for pictures, they should be there for companionship. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 1:52:25 PM It's true, people have an aversion to adopting black animals, or at least black cats. I have one though, Lila. All black, skinny, loves french fries, barfed in the toaster once and plays the best game of "let's see how quiet we can meow" ever. Serious. She likes to meow back and forth with you, getting quieter and quieter each time until you're both just pantomiming. It's cute. I love her. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 1:37:53 PM I have 4 black cats...kinda. The area around my house is mostly forest. The neighbors moved, and their house was torn down. They left their pregnant cat behind. We where eventually able to catch 4 of them and get them fixed. They live in the woods now, but I feed them anyway. Including my grey cat, I have 5 cats, but that doesn't mean I'm a right wing nut job. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 1:10:18 PM Fur colour means nothing about a cat's personality! The cats don't care and neither should we. For the supersticious: if you OWN a black cat you're immune to the old "crosses your path" hex! True story! So go get one! |

Friday, August 31, 2012 12:13:39 PM When I was growing up, we had a black dachshund. He was a real @$$hole. He bit us kids all the time. Then ran off to live with a couple of crazy old spinsters down the street who lured him into their house using bacon with sugar on it. We decided to just let them keep him. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 11:16:43 AM I would love a black cat. I think some people like to pick lighter-colored animals because they think the fur will be less visible on their furniture and carpet. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 10:53:56 AM I dunno about that. Our cat was abandoned on the highway and we adopted her - pure black. Last two dogs were black labs. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 10:44:34 AM I have a black cat and he is the most lovable friendly cat I've ever owned or seen! Can't say the same for the little black demon of a chihuahua I "acquired" several years back. |

Friday, August 31, 2012 9:54:05 AM My kitty is white and gray with siamese markings, however we did not get her from a shelter.. We found her as a kitten, she was wondering around by her self in a field half starved to death and covered in fleas...she was a tiny skinny little thing..my husband saw her first and hollered kitty kitty...She saw us and come running to us and climbed up his leg and sat on his shoulder..We took her home that night and I took her to the vet the next day to get her checked out and to get rid of any parasites..So our little loony toon has been with us ever since she chose us that night..Now she is a fat sassy spoiled little mamas girl..lol |
