@patchgrabber: weed does have side effects. Just today I read about a study that ppl that started using weed at young ages (starting age in the study was 13 years iirc) lost an average of 3 iq points over a period of 5 years where non-users gained something like 5. Also, weed is proven to cause paranoia when used on a regular basis.
The key indeed is moderation, but that goes for every mind altering substance, be it drugs, alcohol mushrooms etc.
Even drugs like heroin can be used over extended periods of time when used "wisely". Many artists are known drug users, and created great works when under the influence. Problem is that in most of those cases the drugs got the over hand and in the end their lives still got destroyed. |

Well, I suppose it CAN be like that, however with small time drugs like pot and alcohol, moderation is key. Don't over-do it and you'll be golden.
And @PizzaPits has it right! These drugs can be used or abused. Difference is that weed has zero negative side effects and alcohol has many. |

What I have seen work to keep kids from being serious drug addicts is for the parents to teach them self respect, to teach them how to love themselves. Way to do the opposite mom. |

If marijuana was controlled and taxed like tobacco and alcohol, the get-rich-quick grow-ops would disappear, the governments would make a ton of money, the police would save a ton of money, and the criminal activity around drugs would take a nose dive. But society as a whole is so panicked about "DRUGS!!" it would be political suicide to try to reform marijuana laws. |

His mom should have turned him in to the police with those super dangerous drugs so he would spend some time in jail, have a criminal record and never get a good job or run for office. That's what he deserves for experimenting.
Can we just end this damn drug war already? I don't even do drugs but I see the destruction it causes, not the drugs, the war on drugs.
Also, too bad Obama wasn't caught when he was doing pot, then he would have never been elected to hypocritically continue the war on drugs.
