what an awesome and respectable display of proper law enforcement.

I'm not sure I understand why a semi-automatic weapon is so less dangerous than an automatic weapon. I don't remember any recent US massacres being carried out with automatic weapons. The rest of the world must look at this and think we are totally nuts. I know I have a constitutional right to a gun, but frankly I don't see why I should ever need one in a civilized country.

Really? is walking around with a gun like that necessary? That's just asking for attention. If you want to carry a weapon--fine. But don't flaunt it like that. Jeeze, I'd be nervous around that guy too.

semichisam, does this kid seem like he's part of a "well regulated Militia" to you?

I'm not totally anti-gun. If I lived in the US I'd probably consider getting one, but letting dickheads like this walk the streets flaunting a big gun (I don't care what calibre it was, or technical crap - it looked like a big killy gun.)
is bloody stupid. You really need to get some perspective on guns, if you think you need one then have one, fine. But some control would be a good idea.

No wonder it's not safe to even go to the f*cking cinema in the USA.

Spoken like a true douche... but with a name like trippyhippy, I don't know why anyone should be surprised. -TruTenrMan

Not my words. Actually the words of an exCop I know. His reason for saying it was directly related to his experience as a cop.

What is your reason for calling me names? Couldn't think of any arguments to support your position?

Are you serious? You guys are all concerned with whether the cop was a douche or the kid was a douche, when to an outsider the CRAZY thing is that a kid can walk about the streets with a freakin loaded gun because it's his right?! Totally ridiculous. Keep a gun in your home if you must, but over your shoulder in the street? Hmmm...

You have got to be kidding me? seriously your gun laws are retarded usa. How on earth can it be legal to carry around a fkn machine gun in a "civilized" country?

You are all praising the cop because he did what he was suppose to do? Everybody is saying that the kid was wrong? We should be praising the kid for for knowing how to handle the situation and for knowing his rights.

That kid didn't know s*** about his rights. He butchered the law regarding illegal terry stops and "search and seizure." He has a fundamental misunderstanding of what the cops can do when prompted with reasonable suspicion, or what constitutes reasonable suspicion. He's going to get somebody hurt.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Yes, the person videotaping this encounter was looking for trouble. Yes, the police officer was doing his job, and rather better than most. No, there is no law anywhere prohibiting anyone from being an ahole. The videotaper is exposing public officials both disobeying and carefully obeying the law. Kudos to him and kudos to the officer in this video.

Those two kids are clearly just a couple of tools who are trying to get their 15 mins of fame. That's obviously not the reaction they were looking for because you can hear once the kid realizes the cop knows his sh*t and is handling the situation EXACTLY the way it should be handled (by asking to inspect the weapon to make sure it's only semi-auto) the kid starts stumbling & mumbling over his words. They need to find a new hobby.

Everyone praising the guy who recorded the video doesn't realize that this isn't the first, second, third, fourth, or even fifth time he has done exactly this.

He goes out carrying a large gun (usually a hunting rifle or shotgun), waits for someone to call the cops, and then records it while making it as difficult for the police that show up. He's a douchebag.

I wish the cops in my area were like this one. All he did was do his job, which was to make sure the public was safe. He was actually very polite to the kid. Can't say as much for the kid.

@Huey: Yes, the U.S.A does allow citizens to carry weapons, but laws vary from state to state.

Make sure you know the laws in each state before carrying any weapon. In my state it would have been ILLEGAL for them to walk around with that gun out in the open. The state I live in only allows you to carry a weapon in public places if it is concealed and you may only carry handguns in public.

Hey, my previous comment got eaten?

Oh well: Those two were "looking for trouble" and that cop was really nice to them! At least they were polite in return at the end.

That's how cops should be all the time, why it seems we always see the videos of them going overboard when dealing with people far less douchy then this stupid kid I can't explain though.

Koodos to that cop, I'll buy him a drink any day.

I realize the predominant age range of traffic to this site is 25 years of age and under. With that being said. Most people in the U.S.A. do NOT understand that an American citizen is allowed to carry a firearm, at ANY time on these lands. It IS a constitutional right that many Americans do NOT understand. I for one am very glad that there are people out there that are making these video documentaries about such rights. Neither the police or the citizen in this video are being jerks are a-holes in anwyay. They are informing people of those rights. Good for them, and good for the person posting this. No reason to insult intelligent, informative, and helpful citizens. I wish for more people to be this informed and for less people to be so criticizing of such rights in the U.S.A.. Understand your rights. Remember The Constitution.

Someone called a cop cause they saw the guy walking around with what looks to the plain eye to be an automatic submachine gun. It wasn't. The cop double checked without seizing or confiscating anything. No problems whatsoever. The guy with the camera did seem very defensive, expecting to run into the average high-school bully with a badge, but he didn't.
