it makes sense that they want to mine it. iridium is mainly only found in asteroids and its worth quite a bit. its used in computers.
Hard to tell if it would be cost efficiant but if you could tap into a large amount of iridium it would be worth it imo. As things are now i doubt this will happen. |

Its naive of me to hope this would be the case but none the less, I would hope that should this event become likely to happen that people would have the heart to forgo the cost and just get it done |

Since NEEMO seems to want to harvest the asteroids but not let them land on Earth, and since the talk is of deflecting rather than destroying them, wouldn't it be better to either deflect it into a path that has it in a stable orbit around Earth or, if that's impractical, one that has it eventually hitting the Moon?
