" science without religion is lame"

Explain. I don't see how religion adds anything to science. What does religion explain that science doesn't?

Lame and based on prejudice. The typical straw man attack of using a few to represent the whole, just to make their point seem more relevant. It can be done on both sides. Besides, science without religion is lame and religion without science is blind.

"I just wish you could find a few of their calibre now."

Misogynistic racist plutocratic slave owners?

They had some good ideas. Let's not glorify them too much.

Hahaha this was good. I had a student that absolutely refused to answer the correct answers on her evolution test so she would add answers to the multiple choice and say things like god did it. She failed the test.

I respect your right to have a belief. As for respecting the belief; I'll need reasons. The right to believe is important; so is the right to question, challenge and, yes, mock.

The American Revolution and the Constitution and Bill of Rights which followed were more or less based on that sense of balance. Which is why a mere handful of people made perhaps the greatest contribution to human rights and governance in the history of the world.

I just wish you could find a few of their calibre now.

Freedom of Religion says if you want to believe the Earth is flat
because the bible says so, you have every right to believe that.

You'll look stupid, but you have the right to look stupid, too.
