No, they can't. Children are not chattel, there are pretty tight limits on what you can do. I have a child but she is 'mine' in the sense that she is my responsibility, not my possession. A lot of people seem to have difficulty in grasping that distinction. |

Yes, Holy God. I am against prayer in schools, and would feel very little regret if congress stopped putting on a show of religion. I do, however, believe people have a right to raise their children in a faith if they like. Amazingly for a Christian, I also don't think people are immoral for teaching their children a faith I don't agree with. Because I'm not a hypocrite.

I think you guys base your opinions on the fact that you think you can teach your kids about religion. They are going to think exactly what they want, whether you like it or not. Some where, somebody is going to show them their way, whether it's parents or friends, they will follow their own path eventually. |

@HolyGod People don't have to put their hand on the Bible in court if they don't want to. If you told them to get a copy of On the Origin of the Species for you to swear an oath on they would do it. |

So if there was a proposition to have prayer in school, or add intelligent design to text books you would vote it down? And you think it is wrong that Congress opens up with prayer, it says God on our money, and people have to put their hand on the bible in court? And you would vote to have those things ended? |

I really have no idea what you are talking about, Holy God. I believe very strongly in the separation of Church and state. These people are presumably having their own child baptized, and atheists are here calling for making it illegal for them to do so. |
