99% of what was mentioned is just entertainment. They are correct in that anybody who thinks Jersey Shore and Tyra and Paris Hilton are role models is a sadly deluded individual, but the vast majority of adults know what is real and what isn't.
Just out of curiosity, what passes for entertainment in North Korea (or other communist countries)? Spending Saturday night sifting through the local garbage dump looking for food? |

im pretty this video is from a south korean supporter of north korea, his accent doesnt sound NK. funny thing is, south korea and the rest of asia has a lot of this crap too but wasnt mentioned.

The U.S culture in a nutshell... Sadly it's spreading, I knew every one of these shows. 80% of stuff on New Zealand television at any one time is American reality TV or dramas, and the rest are NZ made shows which try to mimic them. My generation eat it up.. Everyones so dumbed down. |

Andrew155, I couldn't agree with you less. I think our culture peaked in the 1960s and 1970s. Our economic progress, too... Our REAL economic progress. I think we rode the post-war boom for about three decades, and then borrowed like crazy for the 1980s and 90s to try to keep up. Now there is nothing left. And there is very little left to foster a vibrant culture, either. Welcome to the new Dark Ages, boys & girls! |

DrProfessor, I think you are correct. I'm sure this did not come from North Korea. I recently watched the VICE doc on YouTube about N. Korea, and this is a country so stuck in the middle ages its citizens would think this video was from another galaxy. I think it was a self-critique by someone in the West. No matter. It's spot on! |

The one thing I disagree on in this video is their general point of view: they apply their perspective of the "hive mind society" they got over there onto western society (which is focused on the individual)
In real everyday life, there are a dratton of braindead mouthbreathers that watch reality tv and keep up on the lives of celebrities, but there are smart individuals too.(individual is a concept they don't seem to have a firm grasp on)
TL;DR Pot meet kettle
P.S. Korea, I'm with you all the way for your proposal of turning Tyra Banks into a mangled, blood-spattered corpse. |
