well look at how far the horse was from the springboard back then. can't get a lot of air time when you have to go so far forward to make contact with the horse first. |

You guys do notice that the 2012 (or now) athlete jumps onto an elevated platform to essentially perform a "double-jump."
I wouldn't say athletes sucked back then, as much as I'd say athletes now have a different circumstances to work with. |

They would probably disqualify because of danger. It would also be too blurry in black and white, so they wouldn't be able to judge the technique. |

Funny, in a lot of sports, there's a long accepted standard until someone comes along and proves that another level of performance is possible. (Can you imagine doing a 2012 vault in front of the 1956 judges?) |

There's a kind of simplistic elegance to the earlier one.... the 2nd is far more complicated and technical, but it's more frantic than elegant. |
