Wednesday, August 08, 2012 11:33:27 PM Dopamine? Addiction? Better ban this stuff.. put it on schedule 1. It has no proven medical value, like marijuana. And you know how terrible those pot-smokers are. You are just as terrible for listening to this "music" thing. You need help, you need music abuse counseling. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 9:41:02 PM @PinkHomicide, it's probably because you've never heard music that you like, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there. It just means that you're not impressed by the crap that gets played on the radio or what your friends are buying. I have 46 digital music channels from my cable service, and I won't waste my time listening to any of them, because in my opinion, they're all crap. I like progressive rock and fusion, but they couldn't even find room for one stinking channel for either of those genres. I'm not saying that's what you should like, but I am saying that there's a whole world of great music that you have probably never heard. To find stuff you like, you need to start exploring. One place to start is Pandora.com. You seed it with a band you like (at least a little), and it will start playing similar bands. When you hear something you like even better, put that in for your new seed. You might be surprised where it leads you. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 4:24:02 PM I must be broken, I'm just not particularly fond of music, I wouldn't say it bothers me when I have to listen to it, like when riding in someones car for example, but it's very rare I go out of my way and intentionally listen to music. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 8:21:14 AM @carmium: Actually the name comes from the abbreviated form of its chemical structure, dihydroxyphenethylamine (DOPA), but I sense you were being facetious. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 7:14:38 AM The interesting part is how music triggers dopamine release. Ah, dopamine...is there anything it can't do? |
