Thursday, August 09, 2012 6:21:13 AM @FredSpudman Yes games are more important than scientific research it's not like they happen every two years oh no wait they do! Now tell me how watching a sport being played helps keep you fit? |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 2:44:21 PM @QueenZira The point is that the games don't have events in Gibraltar or the Falkland Islands. However, they do in Scotland and Wales. To call it English only is an affront to those sheep shagging deep fried mars bar eating heroin addicts. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 11:34:05 AM Vimto- "your" Olympics were in Beijing just four years ago. Get over yourself. Fred, Dude the head of your "kingdom" resides in London, (I mean nobody is ever going to think Wales pulled this off on their own) and really who has the time? Why don't we include all the territories and commonwealths too, you know I bet little Pitcairn Island feels sooooo left out there in the remote Pacific.

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 11:17:08 AM "This is the sort of thing we have to deal with when we give England the Olympics". YOU gave us the Olympics? YOU did? You personally or the rest of 'Murca. It wasn't the IOC?? Is holding up money gangster style an American thing only? I suppose you invented money too. FS |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 6:00:45 AM This post makes no sense. First of all, the games are hosted by the U.K, not the English. Stop excluding the other parts of the U.K, it's ignorant and racism stems from ignorance. Secondly, a post of someone holding some notes that was taken at some undetermined point does not bear the slightest causal link to the Olympics, unless you've had a stroke or been starved of oxygen. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 4:25:24 AM @ Scott Pierre de Coubertin only founded the IOC after visiting the Olympian Games of the Wenlock Olympian Society in 1890. The first official IOC controlled Olympics was in 1896. You could therefore argue that the father of the modern olympics was in fact Dr William Penny Brookes and the first modern games was held in Wenlock, England in 1850. You could also argue that Evangelos Zappas was responsible for the revival of the Olympic games after sponsoring the Olympics games in Athens in 1859. Both of these pre-date anything relating to Baron de Coubertin. |

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 3:27:05 AM @Vimto Actually, it was a French guy called Pierre de Coubertin, he revived the games in 1864 and it took London 5 Olympics before they hosted it. We didn't do everything dude. Haha |
