Wednesday, August 08, 2012 2:14:45 PM markust123: So you're not going to be happy until i believe what you do? I dont know anything about this situation other than what the video presents. I dont know or care about left or right wing politics, and the name calling and judgements each side makes against the other.. sorry not my pice of cake. Being excellent is what matters, and when people aren't excellent or loving, like the other guy said, that's too much, and i can't stand it either... |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 11:39:28 PM @markust123 "a guy walking into a protest against intolerance from the bible who starts preaching intolerance from the bible is just asking for this very reaction." And a woman walking down the street dressed in a mini-skirt and tight top is just asking for rape? No... bad behavior is bad behavior no matter what the circumstances. If only a couple seconds of bad behavior is caught on camera, that is two seconds too much! and obviously, he was simply sitting there, they had ample time to draw silly things around him. Try again, markust. NOT his fault |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 9:45:39 PM Would you take a video at face value that was created by a left-wing blog? If Andrew Breitbart taught us anything it is to not trust any partisan blog. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 9:37:45 PM "I'm only saying what I see based on the video." No, what you are doing is believing the illusion that a right-wing blog created by editing out the preachers actions. You are the prime target for opinion media. Take off your blinders. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 8:08:22 PM markust123: I'm only saying what I see based on the video. He may be able to convince himself or his peers that he's right by acting rude like that, but not everyone. Even if he was treated rudely, there's no reason to return the same, that's when he has a chance to step up and teach a lesson. But if not, silence will always speak volumes over mockery and rudeness. If there is more to the video and guy with the Bible came in and said some rude things, and you have one, upload it. If that's the case they're likely both in the wrong. But the guys in the video are beside the point, the point is mockery and rudeness will always fail next to excellence, honourable and admirable ways. Love one another, be excellent, they're such simple concepts, but so hard for this world to exercise. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 7:14:54 PM "but some facts stand." Your facts are assumptions. And you know what they say, if you do that you make an ass out of u and mptions. Wait, that doesn't seam right. Can you not see that a guy walking into a protest against intolerance from the bible who starts preaching intolerance from the bible is just asking for this very reaction. Even if he was just preaching normally considering the type of protest he still would know what he was getting himself into. I feel zero pity for the man. And if this was not mob mentality and really the way those guys behave I think they are horrible people. Because as you said you have a choice to walk away. And I have before on multiple occasions when hate was being preached to me in a crowd. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 6:19:03 PM markust123: everyone has the choice to choose to be excellent, to be silent, to walk away, or make an ass of themselves (just to name a few choices). Maybe the guy was raving and attacking people before the video, IDK, but some facts stand. First, the chalk mockings on the ground, clearly point to where he sits. If you've ever written that much chalk it can take several minutes, so it's safe to say he wasn't walking around too much. He may have just been reading his bible aloud while sitting there, and there is no law against that. Second, when the video caught his face, he looks over the glasses and has a quick grin. This is a sign of a kind and calm spirit. While he was being screamed at, he was also staying cool and composed as the guy mocked the Bible. Based on what the video presents, it's hard to see he was raving and attacking before the video began, but i see more to the contrary. But maybe i'm wrong, like i said IDK. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 5:05:33 PM markust123: Another point i forgot to mention is roughly around the 0:25-0:28 mark You see the guy moving in to make the crazy face to the guy with the bible, and then look to the camera for strength, notice his movements too, its a bit of pride in his swagger. But if you take a look a the preacher's hand during this time frame, it's open and palm facing away from him, and he's waving as if to say no no, or hold off, or back up or something we don't know what. But it's calm. This few seconds is very telling as to who is doing the attacking, who is in control and who is not in control. Again, he could have chose not to pay any heed to the old man with the bible, or chose to walk away, but due to peer pressure, the heat of the moment, lack of self control, perhaps the mob or rabble mentality, his love was gone and his credibility was lost. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 3:56:54 PM @markust123: At the same time, it is much too easy to use the reading of the bible to justify the actions of these boys - both parties are acting foolishly. @piperfawn: You should've just wrote it in Italian. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 3:41:57 PM "I think the guy who was reading the bible is someone we could all learn a lot from in terms of composure and calmness. Faith in God is a very powerful thing, it's what kept Daniel safe in the den of starving lions." And that is exactly how the people from the right-wing blog that created this video hoped they would manipulate you into thinking. They conveniently don't show the beginning of the video. How do you know the guy with the bible isn't one of those raving lunatics who attacks gays with vicious and repulsive words? How do you know he wasn't tormenting the crowd to the point where they just couldn't take it any more? It's easy to jump to the conclusion that these jerks are the bad ones but consider the source of the video and you will find the truth. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 3:07:30 PM The fellow is a good example of a mocker, loud, and with the shifty eyes. You see, subconsciously he knows he's doing something wrong, but notice his glance to his peers for support and then the raising of his voice. That indicates he's found something to override that feeling, and presses on with renewed strength. Too bad one of them didn't just say 'Mockers and scorners never win', because they never do. Mockery and scorn is quite often employed by the foolish, but at any rate, we can all see how ugly it is. I think the guy who was reading the bible is someone we could all learn a lot from in terms of composure and calmness. Faith in God is a very powerful thing, it's what kept Daniel safe in the den of starving lions.

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 2:21:26 PM Here's what bothers me about the protests against Chick-Fil-A. Its a private company. All the stores are private property. It doesn't have to answer to any form of shareholders. It's profit is more or less the personal profits of it's founders. If you don't agree with the business, don't spend your money there (I don't.) However, going inside to protest is almost as ethically wrong as going to the guy's house and protesting on his lawn. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 1:35:30 PM scttydsntknw "The CEO himself does not decide who draws from the charity, they fund a charity that supports christian groups now some of them do not support marriage equality" No. Sorry. You are incorrect. Here are some facts: 1. The WinShape Foundation is Chick-fil-A's charitable arm, created by Chick-fil-A founder and chairman S. Truett Cathy 2. In 2010 WinShape received $8,067,161 from Chick-fil-A Inc. 3. In 2010 WInshape donated $1.2 million to the Marriage & Family Foundation. 4. The Marriage and Family Foundation 5. The Marriage and Family Foundation was set up by the Cathys. Donald Cathy is the Chairman. 6. The Marriage and Family Foundation's sole objective is to opose Gay Marriage and Civil Unions and to keep homosexuality from being a protected discriminatory class. No soup kitchens. No helping the homeless. No healing the sick.

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 1:08:54 PM One of the comments in the article gives the whole picture if the commenter is telling the truth: "The preacher was equating Gay people to pigs and Satan. He was being loud and rude while using his Bible to interupt the event with the intent of shaming peoples life styles. He has his right to free speech, just as I had every right to call him out on his bullsh*t. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that ass hat Christian’s can’t be called out for being dick heads by other dick heads." "Besides the video is biased and edits out the sh*t he was saying to make him look like a victim. This “preacher” was nothing but a bigot..." |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 12:54:38 PM Mob mentality. Gays aren't immune to it. Their version includes much activity reminiscent of RuPaul, which be honest, almost any straight male finds obnoxious to no end. Not surprising in the least. |
