Friday, August 10, 2012 1:44:34 AM What you basement dwellers may not realize is that every signal was delayed some 7 minutes so they had to wait to see if it crashed and burned or not . . . very stressful if it is 2.5 billion dollars . . . I watched it live and it was bloody awesome! |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 4:53:37 PM @tedgp--did you watch it live? They were looking at a simulation--there was no realtime footage--the first picture was a thumbnail, and don't forget that there was a fifteen minute delay. |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 10:19:42 AM It must be hard to make a realistic looking CGI when what they are trying to emulate is so incredible that ANYTHING would look fantastical and fake....well done NASA though on a great feat! |

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 10:17:57 AM @tedgp--in case you weren't aware, there are no cameras on Mars to record this event. Yes, they were watching a REAL-TIME simulation, so perhaps the graphics weren't rendered as nicely as you might have liked. Did you actually miss sharing the excitement of the project team? And before anybody else says anything stupid, yes this video has been edited to appear a little more exciting. This segment actually took a little over ten minutes. |
