reasonable point, except I didn't suggest that NZ was in Australia. We could compare medal tables in a number of ways; NZ or UK vs USA for example.
Re the legacy, I've lived in London on and off since 1961; I worked in Stratford for seven years; in fact I was up there this morning. Now if you want to believe carroll3's version, that's your right. I'll go on personal experience and the evidence of my own eyes and beg to differ.

So I could watch these troll videos (which from the comments sound pretty weak).. or...

Nah, I don't think I'll bother.

emmettyville - nzer in australia? That's a NZ flag. In which case - @mikesex - the medal table looks pretty good from emmettyvilles end. NZ has more medals per population than any other country. After watching this I feel sorry for Londoners.
Course it'll only get worse in the coming months when the actual Olympic debt sets in.

You wouldn't say that if you were here. BTW how's the medal table looking from your end?

@jamie76, neighter am I super rich nor part of the 99%. I am a citizen, do my civic duty and serve my country. In the end of the day, the most important thing, I live my life. I do not pass around blame or dwell in obscurities about conspiracies and back room deal making. There is no way I would ever victimize myself but rather forge my own destiny and peruse my happiness. Other people shall do what seems fine to them and I allow myself a smirk.

People from all over the world coming together to compete at things that they love, there's really nothing better for the world. Power mongering organizations are the problem. Governments curtsy and prostrate themselves to these sort of groups. If countries wanted to do something great they would have a games that was free and neutral. If only...

Carmium, that's nonsense. People were not thrown out of their homes (social housing was developed), traffic was smooth (extra transit and good planning), the city did NOT grind to a halt. The 2010 Games were awesome for Vancouver and for Canada.
I'm glad you didn't attend them, you sound like a bit of a buzzkill.

Video 4- 2:40 (approx.) "London Olympics = place to fake alien invasion in order to start a universal world government."

Documentary makers, this is not the greatest way to lend credibility to any of what you're saying.

We had the same nonsense going on here in Vancouver for the last winter Olympics. Poor people thrown out of their homes! Billions of dollars debt! Traffic chaos! The city will grind to a halt! No Olympics on Native land! Elitist! The People will stop it! No fun before welfare checks are quadrupled!
Before that it was Expo 86, with protestors claiming that -well, see above.
In each case, what happened mostly was a great party, a lot of cooperation, people using transit, and a record-setting event. Perfect? Absolutely no fallout? No legitimate gripes? Of course not. But not within several miles of the disaster promised by the usual whiners and complainers, and our city was put on the world map.

Being anti-olympics is one of the weirder causes to be involved in.

I am usually quite open to hearing those who criticize things we all take for granted, and I am by no means a big Olympics apologist. But there really wasn't a single convincing argument made against the Olympics in these videos. Vice lost a lot of credibility with the anti-semitic-Myan-2012-alien-NWO-world changing disaster crackpot.

Gentrification in London wasn't started when they got the Olympic bid. Cheap crappy souvenirs didn't pop up over night. The sponsors have always been at odds with the Olympic message (although I wish they would find new sponsors). And are we just expected to believe some neighborhood watch about some story of nuclear waste? There are a few concerning things here and there, but nothing that any building and development wouldn't normally see. Weaksauce Vice.

This is a pretty weird mish mash of things, I get the point of the protest, but the catfish in the thames bit was weird, that dude talking about how he didn't like the design of the souvenirs was pointless and the porn was pretty stupid.

I feel like everyone local to me (near london, but not too near!) has bought into the wonderful ideals of "wow it'll regenerate our country, bring jobs, beautify an area" etc....

Ignoring the porn and the conspiracy theorist, most of this isn't news to the average Brit.

Interesting though.
