You guys are really debating sling vs. slingshot and old testament vs. new testament. It is from the bible.

No. It's a catapult. As in Dennis the Menace. Of course it's a catapult. I've had enough of them.
It may be an historical error in terms of the original catapults, but that is still what they are called in the UK. |

That's a sling-shot (catapult in the UK). David purportedly used a sling (whirl and release). Sling-shots only go back as far as vulcanised rubber, circa 1840. |
