Friday, August 03, 2012 12:20:37 PM You left out a step. Money given to CFA is given to CFA franchisees who then in turn pay CFA corporate a franchise fee (usually 3 to 7%). Cathy gets a salary, but it is paid by the corporate entity. The direct profits of CFA do not go into his pocket. CFA donates to all manner of groups who do mission work, feed shelter, and clothe the homeless. It just so happens that one of these groups also opposes gay marriage. Lots of people do. So? It's their right to do so. Here's the question. Did CFA, or Dan Cathy make the donation in question? Another question. You guys cite the donation to a group that may or may not oppose gay marriage, which they have the right to do. The outrage started when Cathy gave his personal opinion to a group of Baptists at a religious meeting. Which is it? |

Friday, August 03, 2012 12:01:32 PM auburnjunky "That may be so, but CFA as an entity does not have an anti gay policy. " Money given to chick-Fill-a is then given to groups that actively fight gay marriage. So I disagree with you. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:46:40 AM @Lillian: Cite that, and prove it isn't trolls, or slanted because more people who disapprove actually took the time to post votes. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:45:53 AM "Religion does not excuse bigotry." That may be so, but CFA as an entity does not have an anti gay policy. Also, Religion does not excuse bigotry, but religious based bigotry is protected by the 1st amendment. (as a side note, I do not agree with religious based bigotry. Just pointing that out) |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:37:36 AM aj, CFA's approval rating has drastically dropped (from 65 to 39 which is below the national average for fast food chains) since the incident and there are plenty of people who aren't going to eat there anymore. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:22:54 AM AuburnJunky "Not because of their religious beliefs. Don't be an idiot." Religion does not excuse bigotry. Religion does not excuse everything. If I belonged to a religious sect that believed mexican babies should be burned alive and I made that opinion public I would hope public officials would block my business from their cities. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:04:16 AM "Those people won't be back at CFA on a regular basis," Uhhhh Freddy, CFA is always packed. They consistently do more business than McDonald's on a per restaurant basis, but they have less locations and their labor cost/food cost is higher, so they don't have the massive profits. I don't see them losing any business any time soon. They are the healthiest option in fast food (next to Subway, but Subway doesn't have drive through). |

Friday, August 03, 2012 11:01:51 AM the mayors of these cities who said they would block a business license application because of his opinion, basically violated his 1st amendment rights -------------- No they didn't. Mayors of cities across the nation have denied Walmart and other firms entry into their jurisdictions. You always talk like an authority and the truth is you're dumb as a box of rocks. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:38:03 AM "i dont see hetersexuals deliberately kissing in any place because they support hetetosexual marriage" Maybe that's because heterosexual marriage is legal and not being threatened or restricted by bigots. -.- |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:32:27 AM i am neither for or opposed to gay marriage. I just dont give a damn, however both sides to this thing are total idiots. "I wont go to XYZ store because the owner hates blonds" sounds just as ridiculous as all of these arguments. People have a right to his or her own opinions, and i have a right not to have bull pucky shoved in my face all the time |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:31:23 AM The boycott "backfired" for one day. Those people won't be back at CFA on a regular basis, I'd bet many of them had never been there before. In the long run, CFA will lose a lot more business and that record day won't mean much. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:29:53 AM "Dude can have is opinion, nobody denied him his opinion." If you are talking about Dan Cathy, then yes, in a manner of speaking, the mayors of these cities who said they would block a business license application because of his opinion, basically violated his 1st amendment rights. So, he was denied a government service due to either his speech, which is unconstitutional, or his religious beliefs, which is unconstitutional. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:16:41 AM that's disgusting. ----------- That's the whole problem with this issue. If a grown man can be "disgusted" by two people kissing society is doomed. Dude can have is opinion, nobody denied him his opinion. He just has to be prepared for the reaction. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:11:49 AM Maybe they'll close early to try to stop it. Then people need to start showing up every day, earlier and earlier. |

Friday, August 03, 2012 10:09:58 AM I hope they do it outside the restaurant, I would feel bad for anyone if all the sudden a bunch of people(regardless of sexual orientation) marched into the store I worked at and start snogging and taking pictures of it. |
