The games supposedly has the best Wifi network in the world. Quite what best means has not been explained. However, you're not allowed to set up a MiFi network. Why I'm not sure, but I suspect it's to protect press photographers so they can get their pics out on the net to websites faster than you. |

To expand on patchgrabber, what if a person activates their wi-fi tethering device OUTSIDE the Olympics are, but still within reach of the receiver. Is that violating their rules? |

I'm thinking they don't want people streaming things, posting things to blogs live, as it causes networks to not have the information first
I don't see this as being the reason. I can take a vid from my phone and as long as I have a data connection it posts directly to a social media account. 3G isn't banned, so I could still vid and stream live events. |

I'm thinking they don't want people streaming things, posting things to blogs live, as it causes networks to not have the information first. Heaven forbid I watch something at my favorite website without commercials rather than the TV or TSN.com. It's all about the Benjamins.

They prohibited, among other things:
"Personal/private wireless access points and 3G hubs (smart devices such as Android phones, iPhone
and tablets are permitted inside venues, but must not be used as wireless access points to connect multiple devices)"
