Sunday, July 29, 2012 12:42:21 PM I F*cking love Tom Waits, but I've never heard he was an inspiration for The Joker. I've heard Sid Vicious was. |

Sunday, July 29, 2012 12:21:52 PM So you pick up a post from the chive and submit it somewhere else. That's cool every body has done it, but to actually put the same caption as them when the caption to begin with isn't any good its just sad. |

Sunday, July 29, 2012 10:02:12 AM @blackcatseye so this talk show and letterman are now considered 'underground' or 'non mainstream' media? @TheLebowski, i meant that both were pretentious posers that could never make it on talent alone so had to create a persona and style that would make them stand-out among the hoards of other no-marks.

Sunday, July 29, 2012 5:38:31 AM som-tam, you are probably half his age at least, if not even younger compared to him, he's had a life, do you know what that is? How can somebody be a wannabe if he's been around for decades (you just didn't notice that) and yet he purposefully avoids mainstream media and razzmatazz just to get more fans? Maybe when you've learned to use Google, had a life, realised you're a douche and grown up a bit, you'll see him for what he really is, an artist. Until then, kindly shut up. |

Sunday, July 29, 2012 1:50:13 AM @som-tam I dont think you will ever see Tom Waits poo/piss/rape/vomit all over the stage. So id say your comparison is a little off. |

Sunday, July 29, 2012 1:36:27 AM Som-tam: Sometimes, in an effort to please ones-self, we do things that would cause other people to think we did it to make a point. Maybe Tom thought it was neat that his hat, while crooked, could stay on his head? |

Sunday, July 29, 2012 1:10:51 AM what a douche, totally affected persona. 'he doesn't work at or try to be different' so hats won't sit straight on his head or did he wear it at a jaunty angle to appear different. reminds me of g.g allen; another wannabe poser. |

Saturday, July 28, 2012 9:47:49 PM I'd put Brad #2. Ledger sounded a lot like Waits in this interview and some of the mannerisms are the same too. If he didn't use this for inspiration it's an eerie coincidence in my opinion. |

Saturday, July 28, 2012 8:47:02 PM [quote">i can definitely see how you would assume that this is his inspiration, but where does anyone say that[/quote"> It's all speculation but a lot of people are talking about it now. It certainly seems reasonable. Here are some links about it. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3

Saturday, July 28, 2012 8:16:16 PM @Angelmassb and anybody else who is curious Look up his music, if you can get past his gruff voice you'll find some of the most hauntingly beautiful and soulful music ever made. Seriously. Fun fact, Tom Waits is one of the few music artists who have steadfastly refused to have any of their music used in any ads or commercials. He has successfully sued any company who have tried to use his music or any sound alikes without his permission. He even gave all the money from one of his lawsuits to charity. He is a class act. Here is Tom Waits reading a poem by Bukowski And here is one of my favorite songs by him. |

Saturday, July 28, 2012 7:56:27 PM Tom Waits is a well known musician and won an academy award in 1986 for music work on a major motion picture. His music is amazing...his song "Please call me baby" is just incredible. |
