@TheLebowski, i meant that both were pretentious posers that could never make it on talent alone so had to create a persona and style that would make them stand-out among the hoards of other no-marks.

som-tam, you are probably half his age at least, if not even younger compared to him, he's had a life, do you know what that is? How can somebody be a wannabe if he's been around for decades (you just didn't notice that) and yet he purposefully avoids mainstream media and razzmatazz just to get more fans? Maybe when you've learned to use Google, had a life, realised you're a douche and grown up a bit, you'll see him for what he really is, an artist. Until then, kindly shut up. |

what a douche, totally affected persona. 'he doesn't work at or try to be different' so hats won't sit straight on his head or did he wear it at a jaunty angle to appear different. reminds me of g.g allen; another wannabe poser. |

I'd put Brad #2. Ledger sounded a lot like Waits in this interview and some of the mannerisms are the same too. If he didn't use this for inspiration it's an eerie coincidence in my opinion. |

Look up his music, if you can get past his gruff voice you'll find some of the most hauntingly beautiful and soulful music ever made. Seriously.
Fun fact, Tom Waits is one of the few music artists who have steadfastly refused to have any of their music used in any ads or commercials. He has successfully sued any company who have tried to use his music or any sound alikes without his permission. He even gave all the money from one of his lawsuits to charity. He is a class act.

Tom Waits is a well known musician and won an academy award in 1986 for music work on a major motion picture. His music is amazing...his song "Please call me baby" is just incredible. |
