A nation with a rich history of cross-dressing shouldn't be the standard.

Good for Scotland. I'm also happy that they appear to be letting churches decide if they want to perform same-sex ceremonies.

The most important fact in this article states that 64% of the people polled are against the legislation. If it is passed without this changing it will be an abomination as far as democracy goes.

"Major public opinion polls also showed that most Scottish voters supported same-sex marriage, with about two-thirds of Scots in favour."

difference between polling and responses...if you're polled at random you give your opinion, if it's a response (post or e-mail probably?) it's more likely to be a complaint

@lawndartsftw We very rarely have referendums (referenda?) as they cost a lot of money. In my lifetime, there's only been one that the English could vote in. If you like referendums, the Swiss have approximately 17 trillion a year. Most of them are to try and get Phil Collins chucked out of the country.

@T3hHippie I can categorically state that fuzzysheep is joking. He well knows that the apocalypse will be brought about by the Lord God Almighty rather than the affairs of man. And you, sir, have an irony deficiency.

IMO this should be decided by referendum. In British-style parlimentary democracy, oftentimes the governing party does not have a majority-electorate mandate.

@fuzzysheep

I sincerely hope your just joking. Can anyone actually be this stupid?

He is joking. He's poking fun of the right-wing Christian neo-cons that frequent this site, and wheel out exactly this "slippery slope" logical fallacy with unerring predictability every time this subject comes up.

Well let's just see how long it is before they legalise polygamy, paedophilia and Justin Bieber.

This clearly symbolises a breakdown in morals that will cause the breakdown of society and will lead to the apocalypse...
