Tuesday, August 14, 2012 10:34:11 PM *Sigh* Jim Henson Company didn't pull the Muppets from Chik-Fil-A. They couldn't. They haven't owned the rights to the Muppets in years. Disney has owned the Muppets since around 2004. Nice publicity though. |

Thursday, July 26, 2012 2:35:39 PM "Fwoggie2.. was that a gay joke? I'm confused now." I thought it was a serious question. Nobody outside the US has heard of Chick Fil A. It's only just occured to me how that's meant to be pronounced, I kept reading is as Chick a Fil. Presumably it's a play on the Pretentious way Americans pronounce 'Fillet'. We Brits say Fill-it, not Fill-ay |

Thursday, July 26, 2012 8:11:38 AM Henson Co. didn't pull out due to politics, but due to having good enough morals not to be associated with that kind of trash. Trash that seems to forget the 9th Commandment at rather convenient times. |

Thursday, July 26, 2012 6:45:00 AM Fwoggie2 "Chick-Fil-A" is a chicken restaurant chain in US which recently published a corporate policy message against gay marriage in what is seeming to be an attempt to get christian conservatives to "patron their stores in protest." |

Thursday, July 26, 2012 5:40:06 AM I just did some research and there are only 3 Chick-Fil-A stores in all of New England, so the fact that the mayor of Boston doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Still, with the economy supposedly so bad, I find it hard to believe that any company thinks it can increase its sales by getting in the middle of a social/civil rights issue. |

I agree, they have a right to their opinion. And I don't like the Mayor of Boston or the Chicago City Council blocking their stores. Gove'ment stay out of it. But I can have my opinion and boycot them. |

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 11:11:56 AM So i have decided this: I think that they should make gay marriage allowed in all states so i can stop seeing poo about it. Its like the Drug war, the only reason people are talking about it or, screwing people over is because there is a choice to be made about the situation. if their wasn't a choice and it just happened and that was that then i dont think anyone would care. (even though there is always a choice) I understand there are many people in the world who care about what other people do so much that it runs their life and makes them into a person that judges which is stupid. what do i know i probably spelled a couple of things wrong and used improper grammar WHO GIVES A drat. (and this will probably, most likely,... be the last drat i give on the Gayness literally) |

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 11:11:39 AM Gerry1of1-"And everyone else has the right to laugh at them {and their supporters} for being idiots at best, haters at worst. " Everyone's free to laugh at them, and 'consider' them idiots and/or haters. I've never said otherwise. Somehow I do no think there sales will take a hit.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 11:04:52 AM The only thing Chick-Fil-A is being accused of is *gasp* HAVING AN OPINION & supporting groups that dissagree with the LGBT. No, they're also being accused of lying. Which they clearly did. |

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 11:02:16 AM @MeGrendel--Just because someone doesn't like a company for a certain reason, doesn't mean it has to be a LEGAL reason. Nobody is saying that Chick-Fil-A should be legally punished for their opinion. We just think they're bigoted a*sholes who don't deserve our patronage as customers, and the Jim Henson folks think they don't deserve their partnership in business. That's capitalism. We get to freely decide who we work with and who we buy from. And that in turn, influences their business decisions. It's working exactly as it should. Now shut up and move on. |

MeGrendel - you're right of course. They have the right to make any charitable donation they wish, even anti-gay charieties. And everyone else has the right to laugh at them {and their supporters} for being idiots at best, haters at worst. |

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 10:18:24 AM Quackor-"right dumbass?" Quik2TheStab-"How is not supporting hate an idiotic move?" HolyGod-"Having a moral conscience makes you an idiot." Is Chick-Fil-A being charged with unfair hiring practices based on sex, race, religion or sexual preference? No. Is Chick-Fil-A being charged with refusing to serve based on sex, race, religion or sexual preference? No. Is Chick-Fil-A being charged with discrimination? No. The only thing Chick-Fil-A is being accused of is *gasp* HAVING AN OPINION & supporting groups that dissagree with the LGBT. I didn't realize that it was against the law to have an opinion that differed from the LGBT supporters. I've always been a HUGE Jim Henson fan. He died way to young. But the people running his company are looking like idiots in this case. |

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 9:32:09 AM Homophobes probably don't like The Muppets anyway. This was, I'm fairly sure, a principled position for the Jim Henson Co. (they have a track record of being progressive), but commercially it also makes sense. This was a trivial part of their merchandising, certainly not worth being associated with bigots for. Now Chick-Fil-A is known mainly as a homophobic fast food joint. Now that is a company being run by idiots. We don't have them over here, and I suppose it's a redundant question, but are they any good? On the libel issue, I think blonc was suggesting the Chick-Fil-A were getting close to the line by implying that Henson products were unsafe, without any actual evidence. Imagine trying that on Disney; putting a sign in the window saying 'We refuse to sell Disney products because they are unsafe, although we have nothing to back this up.' You would have a mouse driving a steamroller over your legs before you could say 'Aw, shucks.' |
