Monday, July 23, 2012 7:10:39 PM I agree. That would be a nice switch. No more sports scholarships. Instead, concentrate on academic skills and professional development. It would eliminate the joke students who are there just to play football and other sports. Check out the majors of the players. If they are studying something along he lines of kiddie literature you know they are probably as dumb as a rock. I live in the area and have talked to lots of PSU football players over the years. PSU needs to promote it's other colleges. There is some good stuff going on there by lots of really decent people. |

Monday, July 23, 2012 11:34:56 AM EvaAve87 He told the people he should have. They did nothing. He dropped it, that makes him culpable. 'Hey, that guy is raping kids!' 'Really? Nah, we'll just let that go. Wouldn't want to hurt the program.' 'Oh, ok. That's seems fine.' |

Monday, July 23, 2012 7:40:10 AM Oooh, NCAA has banned them for 4 years, stripped them of their wins, scholarships, and fined them megabucks. They really threw the book at them! |

Monday, July 23, 2012 4:49:40 AM He isnt a pedo. If you watched the news at all you would know that he told the people he was supposed to. Its a shame that his name is spoiled from someone elses actions. He was an amazng coach for decades, his legacy is tarnished because of that Sandusky non-nice individual. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 10:36:31 PM It all sort of fits into the State College, Pa. scheme. I think it might have been a pretty good, small college town place to live in the 1940's and 1950's. Today it is the same six block/two main streets area of student rip-off businesses and bars that I experienced in the early 1970s, but surrounded by banks, box stores, medical facilities and ugly housing developments. It is just farms from there on out. No much to do if you are used to city life. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 7:53:08 PM The statue should have remained but with the addition of a bronze dollar bill just out of Paterno's grasp like he is running after it. Behind him should be a statue of Spanier, Shultz and Curley as the three monkeys, see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. The third statue placed behind Paterno should be one of Sandusky sodomizing a young man. Seriously though, when I first attended Penn State University Park campus forty years ago I could not believe the fuss that was made about the football team as well as other sports there. The NCAA is going to punish them but good for all the crime they have covered to keep their cash cow alive. With the university in a vulnerable position, I am hoping some of the women who have been victims of this same organization will speak up. If the professional football program is disbanded, maybe football (and other sports too) will return to just casual, fun entertainment. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 5:44:33 PM @tom: the fact that you don't bother retorting and just throw an insult out shows I'm right. This is a non-issue. Period. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 5:14:00 PM @EmagehtmaI, no offense, but people who use the "With all that's going on in the world, how is this newsworthy?" line are idiots. Again, no offense. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 1:23:02 PM Sandusky and Paterno may have fallen but the underlying rot of college athletics remains. It was the power of the Penn State football institution that created the need for a coverup to protect itself. Penn State should never play another football game again. |

Sunday, July 22, 2012 1:19:46 PM I suspect the only onea who care are die hard Penn State/College football fans. The rest of the world is going to go about not giving a crap (as well they should ). Seriously? With all that's going on in the world, how is this newsworthy? So he was a great (the greatest?) Coach. Big deal. Paterno's dead, Sandusky's in jail. Can we please move on to something even slightly relevant? |
