Saturday, July 21, 2012 10:58:51 PM I think the little pussy instead of running away should have stayed in and fought for change. That's what a true leader would have done. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 7:31:16 PM The great irony is, the founder of the Scout Movement was very possibly a homosexual himself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Baden-Powell,_1st_Baron_Baden-Powell#Sexuality I mean, the title of his Magnum Opus was kinda a giveaway:

Saturday, July 21, 2012 3:13:16 PM When I was in grade school, I always thought the boy scout kids were little pussies. They might as well let gay people in. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 3:11:12 PM The BSA, as a private organization, has every right to enact any legal policy they wish. We, as free-thinking individuals, are allowed to criticize and call into question policies we disagree with. You see, that's part of being in a free market system. The service a company provides is determined by the demand of the market. If the market shows that it doesn't want to partake in a bigoted service, it is within the best interests of the company to change their policy. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 12:59:41 PM Aren't the boy scouts currently reevaluating their stance on homosexuals? |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 11:27:32 AM "Excellent! These guys needs to lose all funding." The Boy Scouts receive no federal anything. How can you stop something that isn't there? |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 8:24:17 AM Student-Law: "I love argumentation that start with "I am not gay, however(...)" Unfortunately, even in these so-called modern times, it's necessary as there is still a segment of society that can't wrap their minds around the concept of believing in civil liberties for people other than themselves. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 6:25:13 AM Excellent! These guys needs to lose all funding. Folks need to learn that this type of discrimination, against another human, is no longer going to be accepted. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 4:19:55 AM While they can certainly do whatever they like, I'd absolutely vote to strip them of all federal benefits. Discrimination is discrimination. The Girl Scouts did the right thing. And good on 'em! |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 3:21:21 AM @auburnjunky As Fred said, I'm fairly sure that this is illegal even for a private organisation, but that's not the point of the post. The point is that what they are doing, legal of not, in immoral. It needs to stop. @Tatung42, that's great, really, but the policy is what it is. You are doing the right thing by breaking these rules, but it's morally wrong for them to exist at all. Furthermore, I have no doubt that there are troupes where this policy is enforced and used as reason to discriminate blindly. If the rules were changed, this couldn't happen (not as easily at least). |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 2:58:23 AM @auburnjunky It's not quite as clear cut as that, surely? A private organisation should not break the law, and discrimination is illegal, no? |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 2:02:22 AM That letter, while well thought out, well written and compassionate, will without a doubt fall upon the deaf ears of the BSA. What you do in the privacy of your own home, with your consenting "partner" is no ones business but your own. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 12:53:15 AM I am an eagle scout and currently a scoutmaster. There are scouts in my troop whom I know are either gay and/or atheists. And guess what? I really don’t care, and neither do any of the other parents in the troop. The whole no gays and no atheists in scouts is really just a stupid national policy that no one at the local level cares about (at least in my community). |
