Heard on the local news today that this woman evaded the Toronto shooting because she had a "bad feeling" in the mall that something wasn't right and decided to leave, or so she blogged at the time (apparently). Minutes later the shooting happened.

That's valid - this was Columbine-esqe. Terrible, so sad, and you know what's different? Those with direct knowledge get their story heard instantaneously now. Columbine, we waited for the "official" report. Today, anyone there could tell the world what they saw within a day.
Can I say something odd? I'm numb - like, I don't know how to react. I'm pissed, sad, but don't know what to do but go on with life. Am I jaded? What should I feel? Who can I be mad at? I don't even know anymore. Is this just something that happens? Like, it's inevitable? As soon as someone says "something must be done," someone else says "let's not be rash." everyone is so PC (or anti-pc, if you swing right), our country can't even talk to each other about this stuff anymore without either speaking through what feels to be a pre-defined prism. This sucks. |
