Friday, July 27, 2012 7:57:03 AM "The one incident shown in this video is worthless anecdotal evidence, not statistical evidence." But then, isn't that what all fanatics say about truths that don't fit into their point of view? |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 4:07:36 AM If 40% of gun deaths are homicides, 3% are accidents, and 2% are justified shootings (based on 2005 CDCP statistics), what exactly makes pro-gun people think that more guns somehow means *less* homicides and accidental shooting deaths?? (The other 55% are suicides.) Another study ("Investigating the Link Between Gun Possession and Gun Assault" (PDF), AJPH 2009) shows that people that possess firearms are 4.46 times more likely to be shot in an assault than people that don't. This suggests that you're *less* safe by being armed, not more. The one incident shown in this video is worthless anecdotal evidence, not statistical evidence. The statistics demonstrate that this was, in many ways, the exception, and not the rule. |

Saturday, July 21, 2012 2:32:31 AM every one should be armed for defence. but then the laws would have to change to let us use them as the crims have more rights than the victims. the old fella did just fine . . . he has more courage than the rest of us. |

jamie "the robbers were there for the money, not to kill people. you give them what they want, they leave. this idiot could have gotten several people killed had that gone wrong" We don't know that. There are many robberis where they shoot the witness/es. But yes, it could go wrong. The crooks might have accidentally shot a lot of people. "What ifs" don't mean anything. I could say "What if" their parents raised them propperly then none of this would have happened. |

Thursday, July 19, 2012 10:44:15 AM I think it is fair to say those punks made his day. BTW, I'm strongly in favour of stringent gun control wherever possible (the UK, for example) but when guns are already ubiquitous then I would get myself a gun. |

Thursday, July 19, 2012 9:02:30 AM If more responsible people would carry, the world would be a safer place. Any idiot with a gun has all the power in a situation, unless a responsible gun owner is there to save your ass. @Gerry - I bet you are a bit jelous. 5cats got one up...one day, maybe, the world will be ready for mad turk. (just noticed how sexual that sounds..mad turk) |

Thursday, July 19, 2012 6:20:07 AM Any of you that seem to think that the old man acted stupidly; by all means be victim if you choose to be. This old man made a choice not to be and thank Allah, Buddha, Jeebus, and Odin that Americans can make that decision. Statistics will back me on this, armed response to a threat only vary rarely results in anyone, but the criminal being hurt. In fact, it is much more likely that stray police fire will hit bystanders. |

Thursday, July 19, 2012 3:41:48 AM As much as this particular incident worked out, it very easily could have gone wrong if they started shooting back in the crowded room full of people. That old man is very very lucky that they ran instead of shooting back. All you gun rights supporters can try to hold this up as a win for C&C, but anyone with half a brain who's being honest about this event knows that the old man's actions could easily have escalated this into a blood bath. Luckily, the old man seems to be a good shot, but you really don't have to be to get a C&C permit. |

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 11:11:46 PM what the old man did was beyond stupid. how easily could he have missed and killed some innocent person? the robbers were there for the money, not to kill people. you give them what they want, they leave. this idiot could have gotten several people killed had that gone wrong, which most of the time it does. |

@ anyone wanting to ban guns... Oh Lordie! The reason parasites like that pray on people is because they know they're not gonna get hurt. If they knew there was a risk of getting their asses shot they probably wouldn't have tried it. Gun laws only prevent you from defending your home. The Bad-Guys don't obey those laws so you wont take a single gun from them. Though, I am surprised to find a pro-gun video like this on IAB. Glad.... but surprised. |

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 6:39:59 PM Using a gun to commit a crime means you are willing to murder other human beings for whatever you are after. People like that don't deserve to live, too bad his aim wasn't better. |

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 5:17:00 PM Yes, this was hilarious and the criminal buffoons richly deserved this. I seriously LOLed when they were stumbling all over each other to get out first. However, it's a mistake to think of this as what would always happen in a society where everyone was armed. Innocent bystanders could get killed, guns could accidentally go off, robbers would simply go after individuals instead of crowded areas, people would use guns out of anger instead of self-defense, etc., etc., etc.... Arming everyone is a nice idea in a hypothetical world where the vast majority of people are good, responsible gun owners and human beings, but in the real world there are tons of hot-headed idiots that shouldn't be allowed within 10 feet of a firearm for their own safety and the safety of everyone around them. If this video were the norm, yes, but sadly it's actually an anomaly. |

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 4:54:33 PM Gun freedom FTW!!! This would never happened if the law said that man could not have a gun. Think those two people wouldnt have a gun either though if guns were illegal? Just like how your friend doesnt have marijuana and nobody overdoses on drugs because they are banned. |

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 3:21:52 PM I actually approve of gun ownership, but to me this is a video that shows an argument for more gun control. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be against police procedures to open fire like that in a room of bystanders? If the police are told not to do it with their guns, why should we applaud this guy for doing it with his, and presumably with less training. Regardless of a civilian's (or even military serviceman's) training, it is not the same as a police officer's training to neutralize dangerous criminals while minimizing risk to bystanders. |
