It is a straw man. The first two candidates to respond didn't even answer with more than two words each, while the middle guy rattled off factual statistics. If this is a fictional debate, the first two candidates would have prepared statements about areas in which the United States needs to show improvement. For example, education, considering they are at a university. Any university audience would be expecting candidates to discuss how they propose to improve conditions, such as costs of education, the economic recession, or reducing the national debt. No candidate would fall for what is obviously a set-up question. Most politicians are trained in law and would object on the grounds that the question assumes facts not in evidence. But on Television, lawyers yell "objection" without ever explaining the grounds of their objection, which just makes viewers ignorant of the rules of evidence. They think lawyers have no reasoning skills and just shout at each other.

I don't agree. It was only 3 minutes, 27 seconds. The last, or first, 3 seconds could have been complete and utter lies.
