"Oh look, someone that has actually used both machines and therefore has a reasonable opinion based on actual experience."

Most Mac users have had to use a PC at some time in their lifetime so they actually make a conscious decision to prefer Mac, unlike most PC users.

Anyone who doesn't know that a Mac is better,is living a life of blissfull ignorance.

Explaining the picture:
1. Apple products are easily identifiable (apple logo).
2. A customer remembers how much money they spent on a Mac, especially when they've had to get a new one to replace an old one.
3. Apple marketing is very loyalty-based, even though PC's actually outpace them in performance and cost less.

As someone who uses both Mac & PC professionally (TV Industry, Post-Production) and depends on them daily to meet crazy-tight deadlines, you immediately know the difference between the two systems: the mac is superior.

I was born & raised on PC. I can build & install a PC from individual components, overclock it, etc...

But I switched to Mac about 5 years ago because I was just sick n tired of dealing with a PC. I was in a situation where I was working shift work, with a tight deadline 365 days a year, twice a day, and the Mac crashed 3 times in a whole year... probably due to overheating. So, when it came time to buy a new computer, I switched. It was painless. I could read all my files and do everything on a Mac that I did on a PC.

BTW: At work we use both a Mac Pro and an enterprise-Class HP Workstation, and the HP costs as much (or in some cases more) than the comparably outfitted Mac Pro... but the performance is substantially poorer

"You can't open them up and do really anything to them."

You really obviously don't know what you are talking about. Go to apple's website. What do you think it looks like when you open up a mac? All the pieces are super glued together? I have upgraded a hard drive and RAM in a macbook pro as well as helped a friend replace a fan. You can swap out anything you want in a mac pro. It looks just like any other computer when you open it up basically. In fact you can go to apple's site and find instructions on how to replace almost anything you want. I agree that iPhones aren't easy to mess with, but android phones aren't exactly easy. Plus why would you really need to? You just upgrade to a new phone every couple years which is what the carriers and manufacturers really want.

PirateWillis, the majority of the CompuSci researchers at my university use Macs. A lot of people in the Physics departments do too.
All the real number crunching etc is done on dedicated *nix servers anyways.

Also, all the people who perpetually keep hating on Apple products and users should realize that they are as worse, or in some cases, even worse than all the Apple fanboys out there.

I'm on a pc myself atm btw. I use both.

Um, PC's are easily upgradeable, so it's easier to keep the machine up to date. Professionals use PC's because of the enormous variety of customization you can do. Also, I assume top programmers code programs for and with PC, which if your are a researcher, you want the best.

"I can assure everyone that major computing does not take place on a mac."

Define "major computing". And tell why you know every use of a mac. I would postulate that no "major computing" is done on a personal computer. Except, perhaps, for the human genome project or the SETI distributed processing projects and ALL personal computers can lend processing power to those.

Please name one thing a PC can do that a mac can't. Other than get a blue screen of death and a wealth of viruses.

A guy I work with cracked his MacBookPro's screen when his work table tipped over and spilled everything (he sits on a platform so all the stuff fell from a height). Even though we were in a hotel in another city, he was able to order a new screen, have it Fedexed to the hotel and he fixed his computer in his hotel room. Good to go by showtime. All you need are the right tools to open the case and the brains to do it.

RAM is all I've needed, why would I add anything else?

I don't understand why macs are such a bad option for everyone because it's not what YOU like/want/need.

It works for ME so I own one.

My suggestion for your life- do not get or own a mac.

That's all, very simple. Follow that one thing and you can be happy.

Doesn't make it wrong for other people to own them

In response to your link, it wouldn't take long for someone to create another screwdriver for those- it's just shaped metal.

Then you missed the whole point I was making.

"I've opened up my macbook to add to it."

RAM? If so then what else?

"I've also opened my iPhone to fix the screen I shattered when I dropped it on the driveway."

So this is before you brought your iPhone in and Apple changed the screws?

"I'm also into actually OWNING what I buy. iMacs, iPhones, iPads, you can't open them up and do really anything to them, unless you're jailbreaking, which is really just someone wanting to do whatever they want with their own property, because iOS sucks balls. I'm glad you've been enjoying your rented computer."

huh??

I've opened up my macbook to add to it.

If you are into gaming, IT, or building your own system I get it.

Of course they would know. They have to mention it at the bank when applying for a loan to buy it.

@HiEv also why Macs make the best product placement, makes me wonder wonder if anyone uses anything else in movies.

Last time I checked, "PC" stood for "Personal Computer". So, doesn't that mean that a Mac is also a PC?

Kinda makes that whole "Mac vs. PC" series of commercials look a bit silly now, doesn't it?

Anyways, I think anyone using a Mac would know it's a Mac because of the obvious Apple logo and all of the other branding plastered all over it. You'd have to be blind to miss it.
