Sunday, July 15, 2012 2:28:58 PM There's no shots of any oboeists. I used to play this tune (not as the typewriter). If you're playing a non string instrument it's bastard hard to keep going without breaking into a smile at times, which ruins your embouchure. |

Sunday, July 15, 2012 8:23:44 AM @Agent0024blo: That girl playing the oboe can blow my woodwind anytime. The one in the black dress at 2:19ish? That may be my wife's cousin. I've never met her, but I know she plays either the clarinet or oboe professionally and has played with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra. I'll have to ask her when she gets home from her trip... |

Saturday, July 14, 2012 2:07:31 PM Excellent and novel (in 1950) composition. Good performance, although I prefer it a bit faster. It looks like everyone who has posted thus far knows this piece, but I'll offer the following for those who may not: Title: The Typewriter Composer: Leroy Anderson Year composed: 1950 Original performance: Boston Pops It is reported that the piece can only be performed by an adequately-skilled percussionist with needed wrist flexibility. As is probably expected, the typewriter used must have certain characteristics including mechanical keys, a typewriter bell, and a carriage return mechanism. It's my understanding that the piece is only played with two keys (as it appears to be in this video). |
