Saturday, July 14, 2012 10:26:43 PM The news tonight alleges that there may have been a secret deal cut by Paterno with other parties in this affair, and that deal involved seven figures of hush money to keep this all quiet. Take the statue and melt it down.... |

Saturday, July 14, 2012 9:11:41 PM *sigh* I had faith that Penn State just used Paterno as a scapegoat... sadly, I was wrong. |

Saturday, July 14, 2012 7:44:54 PM >>> But a lot of coaches impact the players in life changing ways(raping aside i mean in a good way) and do a lot of charity events etc. The big college coaches even more so. <<< Halarious... Coaches and athletes have done as much as part of their 'profession' to further our society as the slaves and gladiators that died in the coliseum did for Rome. Do some of the them participate in charity events? Sure. So do bookkeepers, engineers, teachers, firemen, etc. and hey look they all also contribute to society at work as well. |

Saturday, July 14, 2012 2:35:29 PM abby0315 "They should tear it down, melt it, and turn it into Sandusky's prison chastity belt" Prison chastity belt? F.uck that. I don't want a chastity belt preventing Sandusky from getting what's coming to him. He's going to find out just how all those boys felt. |

Saturday, July 14, 2012 6:02:34 AM Should the statue come down? Yes, because it's important to send the message that protecting children from pedophiles is more important than college football. Keeping the statue up sends exactly the opposite message, viz: College football is more important than protecting children from pedophiles. If *that's* the message Penn State wants to send, God help them and may they be sued into oblivion. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 7:56:27 PM @swoop408 "Burn that child molesting hell hold into the ground. The kids going to school can transfer somewhere else." Really, cause more grief in a community that is just ruined by this. No doubt that those responsible should be taken to trial, but to ruin everyone's lives that had nothing to do with it is just stupid. Those involved will go to jail, the University will pay in settlements before they go to trial, but to end America's first higher education institution is just asking too much. It is much bigger than some football coach. People's lives revolve around that school that had no interest in "football" and had no part of the crime. They are just as sickened by the event and that showed when the Jury for the trial found that pedo GUILTY...just as they will find the others GUILTY. Contrary to the media, the students had vigils to the victims and protested on the Presidents door step for weeks wanting answers, because they were |

Friday, July 13, 2012 6:47:53 PM as to the people who say coaches do nothing other then teach 20 yo boys to get across a line better then others obviously know very little. Yes some coaches do just this. But a lot of coaches impact the players in life changing ways(raping aside i mean in a good way) and do a lot of charity events etc. The big college coaches even more so. With that said i dont rather it needs to be turn down or not. Cases for both sides. But i wont put a opinion on that just dont like how people are saying coaches do nothing. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 4:49:17 PM The statue should come down. Everyone involved who did nothing to stop this should have been co-defendants w/Sanduski. Paterno should receive a posthumous conviction. Every reference to him from this day forward should start "The guy who covered up for a child rapist, Jo Paterno...." |

Friday, July 13, 2012 3:45:18 PM I cannot fathom working with somebody professionally on a daily basis, finding out that they raped kids, and not turning them over to the police. Look, we can be friends and all, but the second I find out that you raped kids, I'm turning you in, and we can't be friends no more. In my mind, Paterno not going to the police was criminal. He knowingly allowed children to be tortured by his friend, and for that, he deserves no statute. I can't do it, I tried. I hate that this happened to Joe, but I can't forgive this. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 3:20:28 PM I don't think so. I'm presuming this was a testament to the man's professional character, as in what he did to help teach and inspire students and whatnot. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 2:17:22 PM Yes. JoePa knew all about the kids being molested. As did the higher ups at the University. Penn State is drating disgusting. Burn that child molesting hell hold into the ground. The kids going to school can transfer somewhere else. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 2:10:24 PM I've heard rumors that the Paterno statue sometimes sneaks off campus and tries to talk the Shoney's Big Boy statue into the back of an enormous Ford van. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 1:20:00 PM "The way I see it, Penn State posted auxiliary PSU cops at the statue last night to prevent vandalism." Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were worried that vandals might hurt themselves taking it down the wrong way, and were posting officers there to make sure that didn't happen. Right? No? OK. They're just stupid. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 1:09:42 PM The way I see it, Penn State posted auxiliary PSU cops at the statue last night to prevent vandalism. What does that say? That the university is more concerned about a JoPa statue than it was for actual flesh and blood children (some as young as 11 years old). Shame on Penn State University for having its priorities all effed up. But, hey, it's no surprise. |

Friday, July 13, 2012 1:05:31 PM First: Paterno is dead, he can't go to jail. Second: As someone who grew up literally a mile away from that stadium and knows the community, I dont see it ever actually coming down, regardless of publicity. The damage has already been done, removing the statue is superfluous. |
