So, left to right we have: conman preacher, guy whose wife gives him grief about being 'saved', brokeback cowboy and some random guy staring at the 'happy' guys' crotch.

Steelgrid: funny you say that, because it seems like your entire post didn't even follow your own advice!

CrakrJak said: You can be saved without being Baptized. Baptism is symbolic of Jesus' walk of life. Baptism is your pledge to follow in his footsteps, receive the Holy Spirit and spread the word of Christ.

Good post, spot on!

if you REALLY want to change someone's life, do like they used to do for baptisms (and the reason people DID change their lives). hold the person under the water until they drown (or nearly drown) and then 'save' his life. theres a reason they call it being 'reborn.'

sprinkling water on the forehead is just symbolic of this, but for many, its lost all influence

Lolz! @patchy!~ Rule #34

@SteelGrid: Symbolism IS important! All sorts of groups have cerimonies and rituals, even D&D clubs!
You point out - quite correctly - that baptism without actually changing your behaviour is stupid. It's not the water that 'saves' you, YOU (with faith) save yourself.

"The man seems to understand the need for important change of real substance in his life. It's a change a lot of folks in this day and age could use, and benefit from."

"it's joyous when you come out of the water...not before you go in..."

"a joyous occasion where one's soul has found happiness and salvation from eternal torment"

Yes because as we all know, you cant make good decisions by yourself. Its just not possible. Something symbolic has to happen to decide to make a life decision, yeah, thats their excuse. "Ill just comming, ehem, SIN, until I get dunked in water, then ill be good"

Learn to be a person, your own person. Learn that your moral compass is based on YOUR decisions, not some dump of water.

Oh yeah, the "saved" still commit crimes. So this, as with all religious crap, is worthless.

No, it's not so much a joyous occasion where one's soul has found happiness and salvation from eternal torment, but more like when a rookie mafia member is asked to shoot one of their captives: to prove he is one of the fold. Therefore, it's more somber. Dude gets wet, cowboys spit on the ground and say "OK, back to work."

"important change of real substance in his life"
when 'important change of real substance in your life' is dunking your head under water... you need to take more showers/baths

5Cats, dude, nephews are usually dudes rather than chicks. Jus' sayin'.

NOT according to the mangas I've been reading lately... and it's even more common with the neices turning out to be boys! Holy Yaoi Batman!

Hiya @davymid! Nice to see you! I mean of course that HE got b-tized for no particular reason, which is fine. BUT SHE (I assume it's a she) shouldn't be "spreading her legs for Jesus"! Bad slut, bad!

Thanks for the back-up @number69!
