Musuko42: idk about "straight pride" specifically, but here in my city (Winnipeg) there are several "Women's Rights" marches every year. Often they don't even bother to GET a permit! The cops still let the march.
I know for a fact that SEVERAL attempts to get a "Men's Rights March" permit were turned down by the city, no explaination offered, over the past few decades.

But how do you KNOW that? Has anyone ever TRIED it? Or are you just assuming?
Before you complain about us "getting in your face" with our sexuality, how about you clean your own house first? Homosexuality could only WISH it had the same degree of daily public exposure that heterosexuality has.
So then...how about you express a view that heterosexuals should stop getting all up in everyone's face?
Public displays of affection, publicly announcing their relationships in lavish ceremonies (weddings), forming major plot elements to countless books, films and television programmes every single year?
Or does it only matter to you when you personally think it's "icky"? |

I think you have to look at it more like saying "I am gay, but that doesn't keep me from being proud of my accomplishments and the good things I do, like any other person."
It wasn't that long ago that being gay was considered a shameful thing, so I'll give them a break and let 'em say they're proud. |
