I met Todd Rundgren in a bar in Boston called Silvertones. As a fellow musician, my first instinct was to talk to him about music, but I had a feeling he got a lot of that. So instead, I asked "How about them Sox?" He responded with "Not much of a fan" and proceeded to tell me how his son was recruited by the Red Sox, but because quit the team during training because of some derogatory comments made about the fact that Todd was his father.
After about 45 minutes of chit-chatting about random poo, I finally hinted that I too was a musician but didn't really want to bother him with that subject. He was so appreciative that he game me free tickets and back-stake passes to his show that weekend where I then met his wife, who is a pretty decent comedian.
All in all, I have a lot of respect for the man, both musically and personally. |
