@inaria & spanerbulb: In, your profile says 'Canada'; span, yours, Europe. The poster claims to be on the east coast (of the U.S., I presume). I have lived most of my life on the west coast of the U.S. There, the razor clams that are legal to bag need to be a certain length. All the razor clams I took there were at least 5" long and taken, shell and all. Each would make at least five times the meat of the one we see here. Happy Independence Day!!! |

Um, because many folks find them delicious, they are free if you do this, and they are a healthy meat option. |

The bottom part was the foot clearly shaped as an "anchor" which is how clams burrow in and out of sand. |

No, obviously, you need a shovel or a clam gun (tube with handles on top and a 'vacuum hole' for your thumb). All this DB got was the neck. Most of the clam and the shell are still in the sand. |
