Wednesday, July 04, 2012 10:05:39 PM Even the Aztecs managed to kill the occasional Conquistador, eh? The technology gap of Conquistadors vs Aztecs is small compared to the U.S. military vs "cavemen". We could observe, abduct, and kill cavemen without them ever knowing we were there. We could paint a replica of the Mona Lisa on their cave walls and erect a multistory concrete building outside their cave while they sleep without a chance of waking them. We could slaughter an entire tribe in less than 5 minutes. We could wipe out every caveman on the planet without them even able to put up a defense, let alone injure one of us. What could a caveman possible do against a helicopter, jet plane, tank, biological or nuclear weapon? What could we possible do against aliens who can use their weapons on us from orbit (or further) and can travel between the stars? |

Monday, July 02, 2012 8:56:02 AM If they ARE out there, why come all this way and NOT contact us? ------------- Because they read IAB and have decided they hate Canadian cat lovers. BTW: Real |

Monday, July 02, 2012 5:27:44 AM @Angilion: And here I thought I was being clever! I didn't read the whole series but saw the TV shows & movies & such. Even the Aztecs managed to kill the occasional Conquistador, eh? Advanced tech isn't going to be "perfect" (see the Perfection thread!) just amazing to us primatives. But I totally agree, when all is said and done: If they ARE out there, why come all this way and NOT contact us? I have a few theories, but they're mostly based on 1492 contact... and cavemen. |

Sunday, July 01, 2012 4:21:15 PM Think about it: Interstellar teenagers, borrowing Mom's spaceship, 6-pack of beer? Doing spin-outs in wheatfields seems... natural! Douglas Adams put that explanation in the Hitchhiker's books. It's amusing, but it is the only internally consistent explanation for the central claim made - that people with a technology so incomprehensibly more advanced than our own that they could find us and come here would do so only to leave cryptic signs and crappy quality video of some lights in the sky. As Nottaspy says, they could just hide from us completely. We're talking about a far bigger technology gap than the one between the paleolithic and today. Adolescent aliens winding up the silly primitives on a hick planet is the only internally consistent explanation containing aliens. |

Remote controlled and filled with explosives, they were intended to take out swarms of tightly grouped bombers in one BOOM! idk if they'd have electro-magnitism after all these years... (they were jet-powered, sort of) |

Sunday, July 01, 2012 8:29:58 AM not true @Gerry1of1. ElectroMagnetism doesn't always mean UFO. It could be a ghost. |

Sunday, July 01, 2012 8:20:42 AM Cracks me up every time someone claims to be a skeptic, but throws that out the window the first time they come across something they can't explain. I wonder if they think the definition of "skeptic" means they have never seen anything they can't explain. Interstellar travel would require either: a) the power output of a star. or b) many centuries of time. or c) an understanding of physics beyond ours. If the option is c, we would never see them, unless they wanted us to. Given that there is not one single piece of credible evidence that extraterrestrials have been here and our understanding of the incredible barriers to them traveling here, it is safe to believe that this object has an earthly explanation. But then you can believe as madest does that they overcome these immense obstacles to come here and poke people in the butt and draw pictures in wheat fields. |

Sunday, July 01, 2012 7:53:40 AM Lets see, we have video footage of a computer monitor (to much to ask the the image files actually be used in this "news" report) and sketches of the object by the resident five year old. Yeah, seems legit. |
