The question was. "What is the speed of light?"

ShadowVamp, it's even better than that. Now a specialist from the other side of the world can operate the robot, and hundreds of other doctors and med students can watch it live or recorded. The robots are also getting smarter learning to process the images from the cameras and and avoid nicking blood vessels or crashing into other instruments.

@madduck: The robot is controlled by the skilled human surgeon, but the instruments are far smaller than any human could control properly and video cameras magnify everything. It's a lot more accurate and causes smaller incisions and less healing time. My dad's most recent hernia operation was robotic and it was pretty awesome.

you know- if someone/thing is going to be rummaging around inside me cutting bits off I think I would prefer that to be a skilled HUMAN surgeon!

Robot hysterectomy will be more common place when the Japanese finally perfect their robotic sex dolls.

Robotic Hysterectomy is that thing that The Terminator tried to do to John Connor.

By the way, in Germany and Luxemburg, vasectomy is being paid by public health care.... (just saying ;)

Mine was completely covered by my insurance, too. I get the insurance free from work and I'm a public state employee, I know that's not public health care but close enough, right?

I think manual vasectomy makes more sense than robotic hysterectomy
