@Sephiroth: Well spoken. Good riddance to bad trash. More wanna-be-thugs should be shot!

Bye-bye little thug.

Patchgrab - we don't allow polygraphs in court either, but they are an indicator, a tool, for police use. They are not court evidence however.

SYG laws aren't stupid. They are the rules that allow a woman being raped to kill her rapist if possible. If someone jumps you and tries to eat you face {it happens} SYG allows you to defend yourself. If it was misuesed in this case {I'm not saying it was} but if it 'was' that does not mean SYG laws are bad.

2 lie detector tests indicate Zimmerman is telling the truth.
Voice stress test also indicates Zimmerman's version.
1 eye witness confirms Martin was on top beating on Zimmerman.
Martin's girlfriend confirmes she heard Martin confront Zimmerman "You got a problem" before he hung up.
Injuries to Zimmerman confirm his story.
Injuries to Martin confirm Zimmerman's story.
'Stand Your Ground' laws allow you to defend yourself even if you spoke to them first.

Everything confirms what Zimmerman has said all along and nothing has come to light to contradict it. Yet the Lynch-Mob mentality rules and overrides all facts.

@Crakr: In your country it may help, we don't allow polygraphs as evidence in court up here. I understand where you're coming from though, it does help his story. This whole thing still stinks to me because I think the SYG law an asinine, poorly-thought-out law.

patchgrabber: I don't believe that lie detectors are 100% accurate either. But the police chief was fired because the saint skittles crowd said there was no proof of GZ's story.

Well this here is about as close to proof as one can get and although it won't help GZ in court. It help exonerate the wrongly fired police chief.

Lie detector tests = not 100$ accurate
Trayvon Martin = 100% dead

@paco664: Fair enough, the stats I was using were apparently outdated (1995).

I also wasn't asserting that Zim was guilty or innocent, all I said was that lie detectors are BS.

@patchgrabber...

your stats are faulty... the usa has a per capita gun ownership of 88.8 guns per 100 people...

canada...30.8.....

that is a large difference...

zimmernman was/is justified in shooting his attacker...

its a sad affair that ended badly for everyone...

for the record i spent 11 years working in law enforcement as a sheriffs deputy... i also have a CCW and carry my handgun daily at all times except when i am at work...

Can we just not bring polygraph tests into the mix? ever? They're not really solid evidence one way or another, and just make people angrier and more self-righteous.

Florida is the one state that does require some people to submit to polygraph tests (previously convicted sex offenders), but even then those test results cannot be used against them in court, and are for use only within the course of their therapy.

Patch, Maybe we should start deporting all our illegals to Canada now. Should be legal under NAFTA right?

"he was armed against watch patrol policy"
He was not on watch patrol at the time, he was going to the store on his own time when he spotted Martin.

Canada also has a fraction of the illegal aliens we have in the US. That's a big factor.

This is a plausible explanation, most of your violent crime is in the southern states, although it could merely be correlation.

I'm sure from his point of view he did nothing wrong, nothing inappropriate, nothing that aggravated or exacerbated the situation. He likely feel's he had no choice other than shooting the kid.
This does not mitigate the fact that he was armed against watch patrol policy, that he exited his vehicle against 911 dispatcher advice, and that he followed someone around at night- with the preconceived and incorrect belief that the kid was up to no good- and probably scared the kid.

I'm reposting 'cause patchgrabber stepped on my post.

Everyone loves a polygraph when the guy fails its. "SEE! Proof he's lieing!" But when he passes it they say "it's unreliable, proves nothing".

It's not the only thing you have less of.....

You're right! We have less violent crime in general, thanks!

Nope take a broader look at the world.

It was hyperbole for effect, but you're right it is probably not correct.

@patchy is correct: "lie detectors" are NOT foolproof and are not allowed as court evidence for darn good reasons! With training almost anyone can beat them, some people can do so naturally! Others test "false-positive" a lot.
In short: it's just another device for police to torture you with. The bright light, the phone book...

As much as I believe Z-man is innocent, the polygraph was a mistake for him. It is for everyone! Just say no!

@pacco664 is correct: Canadians have the right to be victems of crime, nothing more.
