"I'm not really a fan of pride to begin with. I understand and completely agree with the premise of the pride parades, but I don't really think it's a great way to convince homophobes (most of which have been conditioned that way) that there is nothing 'different' about being gay. It really seems to further instigate the blind hatred. Unfortunately, I don't really have a solution though."

I've never thought of the parade as a way to convince anyone of anything. I would agree that it does the opposite. I've always seen the parade (I go to) as a celebration within the community and with the friend and family. Kind of a 'I'm not alone' type of thing. I see it as a celebration and one fabulous party.

"d u like to see naked men when you were a baby? I have a friend that says he can hear voids in his head..... "

This, folks, is literature in the making.

Of course, with immature comments like:
"But of course only those of us who have gone through puberty (*cough*litcandle excluded *cough*)" I honestly don't know why I expected anything more from you. I'm sorry I even started this discussion. Glenn Beck could probably have a more reasonable discussion than you.

@QueenZira You haven't even heard my theory. You are just classless when it comes to arguments and discussions aren't you? CNN/FOX News much?

@QueenZira I'm not going to argue with you if you continue to use foul language and insults. Secondly, when did I ever say ANYTHING about mental illnesses?

You fail right out of the gate when it comes to the "everybody's Bi" theory. Not I, sayeth the little black duck.

If you studied Psych you'd know that there are 3 axises through which mental illness is diagnosed.

1. Statistical deviation in test scores. This refers to cognitive testing that can be mathematically quantified, therefore if someone scores lower on basic cognitive functioning they can be said to have developmental disorders. (Ie. mental retardation & the Autism spectrum.

2. Functional Impairment. Whereby a patient can no longer function in the everyday world, examples a Schizophrenic, Manic Depresive, ect.

3. Personal Pain. The patient is in personal pain, note that this means the state itself is painful, it is not caused by society's reaction to it.

None of that includes your bulls#it standard.

@QueenZira I also have a theory (I know you and most people will disagree with it) that all humans might be naturally bisexual. Keep in mind, that this

@QueenZira Keep in mind, this isn't my argument or line of thinking, but here it is: If homosexuality is purely biological, then it could very easily be considered a disease or at least a defect, not because it isn't 'normal', but because it deprives someone of the natural ability and desire to produce off-spring, which is ultimately the inner drive of all species.

As a mixture of both biological and nurture factors, or even if you view it as simply as a preference, it's not a disease at all. It's just the wasy someone is. Just because something is not 100% biological does not mean that it is something that they can help. I don't think most homosexuals really HAVE a conscious choice. If you'd study psychology, you would know this.

How exactly would you argue it's a "disease"? Not according to any legitimate medical professionals it wouldn't be. My old psych Prof (Dr.) once said, "Difference alone does not a disorder make."

"So when did you choose to be straight?" Whenever I decided that I liked the idea of having sex with women? I don't really see what your argument is supposed to be. It's like saying, "so when did you decide to like action movies".

@HolyGod
"Well scientists can't find what biologically causes cancer, so maybe people just learn how to have cancer."
That's not a good analogy for whoever came up with it. Cancer is a biological condition that can be observed. Homosexuality is a sexual preference that there is no deciding evidence for either way. I honestly don't think it's worth worrying about. Honestly, who gives a poo? I'm not into oversized breats or asses, some people are. Some people like having dicks shoved up their asses, once again, not my thing, but why should I care if someone has a different taste than me? I don't think it's some purely biological condition that some people around these parts seem to think it is. Actually, using their claims, you can argue that homosexuality is a disease, and I don't think that Markust and Gerry would be too happy with that. Sexual preference is no more interesting than whether someone likes vanilla or chocolate ice scream. I'm tired of seeing all this po

V If you have to think about it at all you're either bisexual or religiously brainwashed. Which option fits you?

I can't believe people are still even discussing from whence someone's sexual orientation comes from. It's biological for every one of us, and that's all there is to it. But of course only those of us who have gone through puberty (*cough*litcandle excluded *cough*) can truly understand it. Ye Gods, those years are tough on us all, every one of my straight fellows can attest to that. Remember your first crushes? Let's not make it any harder than it has to be on anyone else.

Also, Russian backwardness duly noted. URRRRRUUUUUUPP!

"Why not have a pride parade? In a society that tells us not to be proud of who we are and how we choose to live our lives, a lot of people can use the cheer. Nobody gives straight people sh-t for being straight."

I think you gave a wonderful answer.

"I support all gay rights, I just hate parades. I would never see the need for a straight parade, or a white parade. being happy in who you are doesn't require a parade. To me all that does is showcase your desire to be segmented from the majority. Seems counter productive."

When there is full equality there will be no need for a parade. We are far from being there. Try marching in a gay parade in Russia. You will be beaten and arrested.

@Misfit-Mutt, I think that HolyGod did a good example of explaining his point, I suggest that you read his post again to answer your question. It is also dumb to be proud of something which you had no say in; homosexuality not being a choice. What I can respect though is the courage required to come out in certain societies.
