@lawndartsftw, I agree. I saw it in it's first run and several times thereafter. It's one of the few film that never seems to get old. The sound track by Vangelis is awesome.
BTW, I used to have a set of lawn darts. I wish I know what happened to them. |

The original movie, though, is one of the top sci-fi movies out there. Watched it on its first run, own the dvd, watched it here about a month ago, and it has hardly aged at all... |

@tedgp: I don't know the European movie rating system, but it was rated "R" here, which is pretty much the maximum rating (no wide release movie here is ever more than "R"). I do agree that it's possible that a lot was cut, especially knowing Ridley Scott's track record of always releasing a directors cut later on, but I find it hard to believe that the cuts were made to achieve a rating, since the story flaws were much too glaring.

The problem with prometheus was that ridley scott was forced to cut a lot of the movie to gain a 15 rating because fox wanted the movie to make more money.
However, he has said that part 2 will fill in the gaps that he was forced to make in part 1. Lets just hope lindelof isnt part of the team this time. |

Prometheus wasn't really a "bad" movie, but it certainly wasn't a good one. I haven't seen such a mess of a script in a long time, and I'm referring more to the story arc than the dialog. |

i like Prometheus it wasn't great but not that bad the same as Blade Runner.
i never got the whole Blade Runner cult thing. i just dont think it was that good of a Dick story.

I also thought Prometheus was pretty good. There were some parts that were a little dumb but overall I enjoyed it. |

Prometheus was a good movie really. It just had too many parts cut by the studio to give it a 15 rating, and is also the first part of a two party movie. |
