Monday, June 25, 2012 10:23:07 AM Kids love that california hippy new age crap because the consequences are so little. Now, taking the xbox or no allowance is cruel and unusual punishment. My daughter was rude to her mother. I disconnected the cable tv until she treated her mother with respect. Just imagine a 15 yr old angel. It was easy. I'm smarter than a 15 yr old. This was 20 years ago. The canadian government would put them in a foster home with punishment like that today! |

Friday, June 22, 2012 10:32:02 PM Yeah, nameless is pretty much right. At that age a lot of drug use is about the social boost it gives, which usually results in the young people we all know from the internet who obsessively try to make sure everyone knows "YES, I DO DRUGS! I AM A DRUG USER!" through any means possible, so really I don't think embarrassment will be an issue. I'm guessing from most of the indications here that whoever designed that punishment is probably some out of date churchgoing busybody who doesn't have any idea what she/he is doing. They look a bit unhappy, but I'm guessing that's more from having to stand in the street on a hot day for an extended period. |

Thursday, June 21, 2012 10:59:39 AM Most kids that age start doing drugs because of peer pressure, they want to be "cool." I don't see how giving them a bragging-sign is punishment lol. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:36:54 PM @kangoala You gotta start somewhere. Some of the greatest people in our history started out lower than that. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:35:31 PM @mcboozerilla The negative effects of weed are really played down in today's society. Sure, compared to some things out there, it's not that bad, but it's definitely not something I'd want my child getting into under my household. Also, a lot of nice jobs these days have started drug testing when considering applicants. It's a good way to weed-out (no pun intended) applicants who may not make the best employees. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:31:52 PM @NNoamfer Not wanting a kid this young to smoke weed and cigarettes is reasonable. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:29:35 PM What's with these new-age parenting techniques? Just tear his ass up with a paddle and ban him from seeing the outside world for a month. That poo works every time. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:13:12 PM Should have printed that on an orange jumpsuit, then make him pick up trash along the streets. Have his punishment be useful to the community, instead of just possible humiliation. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 12:24:31 PM "It does not matter if it is 'borderline acceptable' or even if it's legal. It matters what the rules of the household are. You live in a house, you follow the rules. It's good practice for real life." You missed my point. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be punished. What I'm saying is you're taking a child and putting him in an environment that is much more acceptable to that type of behavior than your Household. There's no 'humiliation' here. I'm sure the kid got a couple of high fives. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 12:18:15 PM His parent's don't want him smoking weed. That's what has to do with it. When he's 18 he can do whatever he want, right now he is their responsibility. My younger brother cost my parents thousands of dollars in fines by the time he was an adult because of it. |

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 9:37:14 AM I don't know if it works, but it will embarrass the hell out of them. I would do it to my kids in a heartbeat. Anyone who thinks it's child abuse should never have kids. It isn't abusing them. If they hold up the signs and don't care that everyone knows, they have bigger problems. IF it gets them to stop, job well done. |
