Yes exactly... 30PSI spread over a larger area does not equal the same amount of damage.

there gets to a point when more bass is just pooty and not awesome. and a lot of ghetto people pass that point. the rattling on their trunk as they pass by doesn't help either.

@Angilion: Angilion, I think it's time you got a real avatar and stopped using the default one, don't you?

Your argument is basically telling me you believe a 14" tire with 30PSI of air has the same amount of air as a 28" tire with 30PSI.

No, it's basically telling you that 30PSI is 30PSI. Which should be obvious, really. 30PSI might be 60lbs over 2 square inches or 15 pounds over half a square inch, but it's still 30PSI and it will do 30PSI's worth of damage to something.

You can believe what you want.

Just because you can easily google something to find a DB level that causes hearing loss means nothing.

The studies that have been done to show our ears are less sensitive to lower frequencies. Therefore, if your ears are less sensitive to lower frequency, a 35Hz frequency is less sensitive than a 15,000Hz frequency. So if both are producing the same DB and you are less sensitive to one... which one does more damage?

You cannot make up fake general information.

Your argument is basically telling me you believe a 14" tire with 30PSI of air has the same amount of air as a 28" tire with 30PSI.

A decibel is the measure of the pressure created by the sound. A decibel is a decibel is a decibel, whether its made at 20hz or 20,000hz. Higher frequency sounds just require less energy to produce the same decibels. They all have the same damage capacity.

Phantom: Actually, no. It does not work like that.

Hearing loss begins @120dB, period. Look it up my friend.

bass is a lower energy level than high frequncy tones, not to mention the human ears natural roll off of low frequencies, so actually, es, we can handle bass much better than high frequency tones

Bullpoo.

It's DECIBELS that kill your ears, regardless of frequency.

Hey Phantom,
No one gives a poo. Besides you, obviously.

If you want one posted, then submit it!
I mean, with your GRAND knowledge on the subject, you MUST have a "...car tuned below 35hz hitting 160+db."

Surely a high amplitude of low pitched sound damages the ears ability to hear low pitched sounds and vise versa for a high amplitude of high pitched sound?

Probably a lot less than you think...

Bass does a lot less damage to your ears than listening to ear plugs or headphones. Highs are the poo that kills your ears... the lows do not.

System sucks.

Mirror does not even vibrate.

This car is tuned so high so the meter reads high.. but there is barely any vibration.

Only gays tune their poo above 35 and this is probably tuned above 45hz. This poo maybe hits 135db... that's sony xplod quality. $100 on craigslist anyone could do this.

More impressive when you see it done by car tuned below 35hz hitting 160+db.

Please post one with a car tuned

Link: Russian Girl Checks Out Her Man's Sound System [Rate Link] - Do you hear something odd? Something unpleasant? A preponderance of bass, perhaps?
