meh, I'm down with patchgrabber. Actually, strangely enough I seem to be down with patchgrabber a whole lot. I find myself looking at his posts saying "Yeah! that's right!" a lot.

Anyways, my possible philosophical brotherhood with patchgrabber aside, if you really feel the need to have some massive display for a proposal my first thought would be as to why I felt that way. The thing is that getting other people involved can only serve a certain number of purposes, and most of them aren't healthy or positive.

Am I a bad person for not finishing the video as soon as I caught the first glimpse of those two?

The rest of you are some bitter pieces of beetle dung

I'm not decrying their proposal, to each their own in my book. That does not mean, however, that the desire is not rooted in self-esteem issues. A spade is a spade.

Seemed really nice to me. The rest of you are some bitter pieces of beetle dung. HOW DARE THEY DISPLAY THEIR LOVE PUBLICLY!

Maybe some people think proclaiming their love for someone in public is the most sincere form.

This is exactly the mindset that I do not understand. I blame movies for glamorizing proposals so that everyone wants a huge crowd to cheer while inspiring and touching music plays in the background. I simply feel that a proposal is a more private affair, I don't need the reassurance of a crowd of people who feel obliged to cheer for them. In my estimation it comes down to a pervasive lack of self-esteem, but that's just my opinion.

@MacGuffin:
I kind of agree with you... I told my boyfriend no matter how much I love football, DO NOT propose at a game! But I think if he did it in front of my friends and family it would be very nice. And he already knows I'm going to say yes so no guilting me into by doing it in public.

Would have been awesome if she had said no, and he then had the rest of the run to do.

I've never understood the fascination with surprise proposals in front of crowds of people.

Me neither. If you need to publicly embarrass a girl into saying yes, maybe she's not the one for you. Romantic, private candlelit dinners are the place for proposals, not football matches or torch relays in front of TV cameras.
