Monday, June 18, 2012 2:55:12 PM It wasn't because she said "vagina" but because saying "I'm so flattered you are interested in my vagina, but no means no" is rude and unnecessary in the setting it was used and did nothing but overshadow her point. |

Monday, June 18, 2012 1:59:48 PM we do realise that vagina is a scientific term, its not like she said eat my pussy, or something truly offensive. |

Monday, June 18, 2012 6:32:18 AM @Bluefalcon: You might want to take that stick out of your rectum and watch it again. It was fully contextual. Beside, when did using a word that even pre-schoolers know become "unbecoming"? |

Sunday, June 17, 2012 10:42:15 PM She holds a government office and is upheld to a higher standard, I fall under this myself being in the military. People in her position and mine are supposed to show a professional image to the public. This was open for viewing to the public so there is no question on if she was aware it would be seen publicly. Using the word "vagina" in that context had no scientific meaning, along with adding, "no means no," at the end alluring to rape. Bottom Line. She made a decision to act in a way unbecoming a government official and has to be held responsible for her actions, regardless of the matter she was bringing up. She knew the consequences of her actions, and that language like that would result in a retaliatory action her. |

Sunday, June 17, 2012 9:46:11 PM zeeger60: "republicans want censorship? Fine. A bullet in the head everytime a republican lies." C'mon, man. They don't lie anymore than anyone else. Try telling them the earth isn't flat. Of course they'll dispute it, but they're not actually "lying". They actually believe it. |

Sunday, June 17, 2012 6:03:04 AM Yea MacGuffin I have a bunch of other ethnicities mixed in but I think I most identify with the Scotch, Irish, and English. I think it's because I'm such a big fan of beer and liquor. Are you sure you're not just an alcoholic?, because merely liking alcohol doesn't de facto make you Scottish, Irish or English. |

Sunday, June 17, 2012 4:36:48 AM BlueFalcon, the UCMJ governs the actions of active duty military members and is even used to adjudicate and punish regarding criminal activity--even allowing for double jeopardy, which is significantly more stringent and strident than any rules governing civilians, elected representatives or not. There is no such document and no such strenuous rules for our representatives. You may wish there to be, and you can vote for there to be, but, fortunately for us, there currently aren't any. Unfortunately, the majority rules here, even when the rights of the civil rights of the minority are abused. That should NEVER be the case. We, as a people, should NEVER be able to vote on civil rights. That would allow for slavery or a minority, for instance, or other discrimination, based on minority status, that is clearly abhorrent. But, such is our system of government. Oh well. |

Saturday, June 16, 2012 11:38:05 PM BlueFalcon, are you so "civilized" and "professional" that you can't get your head out of your ass to see when a situation is complete and utter bullpoo? I applaud members of the government who have the passion and audacity to stand up to their fellow peers and break through the asinine banter that goes on in these public hearings. |

Saturday, June 16, 2012 9:42:23 PM I think men should pay child support... but I think the women should have to produce receipts for all the things bought FOR THE CHILD... so you know you're not paying for her coach purses |

Saturday, June 16, 2012 8:37:15 PM The person who banned her acted foolishly. Not because she didn't deserve it (reversing the genders makes it fairly clear she did), but because they did what she wanted them to. She wanted a reaction and she got it. Gerry made the point first, but I'll make it again. I don't think men should be forced to pay child support (they can opt out as soon as they learn of the pregnancy) for as long as women have the right to abort the baby. I mean, I'm glad everyone here wants to get their hands on my penis, but no means no. Imagine how that would have gone over. |

Saturday, June 16, 2012 8:20:51 PM "It's never happened," legislative historian and Inside Politics editor Bill Ballenger said. "There is no precedent. There have been altercations in the House and Senate. But the idea of the controlling party, Republican or Democratic, censuring, in a sense, two of its members for speech, literally clamping down on their free-speech rights? It never happened and shouldn't happen. And, in my view, won't happen again." Link Bill Ballenger is a respected voice in Michigan politics. And a REPUBLICAN. So people get into fights and have never been silenced, but challenging Republicans on an anti-abortion bill? SILENCE! |
