Here's what I took away from these two videos:
1. Lawyers don't care if you're guilty, they just want to get you out of jail.
2. Police don't care if you're innocent, they just want to put somebody in jail.
3. Unlike what all children are told growing up (Always tell the truth), even professing your innocence can get you put in prison for something you didn't do. |

I think everyone on here failed to understand what the professor's point was. The point is you are guilty until proven innocent in the American Justice System. So stop being an informant for the scumbags that feel the urge to uphold a corrupt broken system. Instead of telling them a story,tell the police what they really want to hear such as; I was knocking the bottom out your mom's vagina last night. I have flat out told significant others to GTF because of their choice to become (CITIZENS ON PATROL) !!!!PIGS!!!! |

Thanks @carmium! I haven't been arrested in WEEKS so I forgot all that...
Actually I'm glad we Canuks have SOME rights, we have so few actually it's frightening.
vv @CrakrJak is correct, it's ALL about the money!
They City promised to produce documentation every year to PROVE our red-light cameras were "making the roads safer". Well guess what? Many years on and NO DOCUMENTATION! Some say the cameras have CAUSED more accidents as people slam on the brakes to avoid a ticket!
It's sad that "law enforcement" is used strictly as a form of taxation! Isn't that what Robin Hood fought against?
Anyhow, don't talk to cops! |

OldOllie: Unfortunately many cities, towns and villages resort to traffic tickets for revenue purposes, not about traffic safety.
Case in point: Stop light cameras. STCs do not 'stop' anyone they just fine them (without due process I might add). An STC will never prevent a drunk driver from getting in an accident, never bust a wanted criminal, never stop a bank robber, kidnapper, carjacker or drive by shooter. STCs are about revenue, period!
That said, even though police departments are known to have ticket quotas, at least cops can and do actually stop real criminals as well.
Many small towns can't even afford their own police anymore and people have to wait sometimes a 1/2 hour, sometimes an hour, sometimes longer just to get an officer from another town, the county or state to arrive on scene.
You can bitch about small town speed traps, but sometimes it's that or no local police protection at all. |

in the second part the officer said he can follow someone long enough to eventually legally and justifiably pull them over.
all this tells me is that our laws were written to make sure that any of us at any time can be stopped and arrested for just about any reason.
that is not freedom. but you'll tell yourself it is anyway. |

There is no standardized "Miranda" warning in Canada, but an officer making arrest MUST by law inform the suspect of:
-the reason for the arrest (unless obvious, in which case s/he need not state it)
-their right to retain counsel, and that it will be appointed free of charge if they wish
-their right to stay silent and that anything they volunteer may be taken down as evidence and used against them.
Normally the officer will read from a script as defense against possible later accusation that s/he omitted something.
I can't say every one does it, but the law does require it. |

I watched Part 2. When the cop said, "I don't want to put anyone that's innocent in jail," I lost it. It's a good thing I wasn't drinking anything, or it would be all over my keyboard via my nose. I've had it happen to me twice that cops have lied their asses off just to nail me with a goddam traffic ticket. If they would compromise their integrity for a stinking little chicken$#!+ thing like that, there's nothing they wouldn't lie about. |

btw: Canadians have many of the same rights as Americans, but the Cops aren't required to "Mirandize" you ie: inform you of your rights, afaik. |

vv @Gerry1 is correct, NOTHING you say can help you, it can only get you in trouble!
NEVER allow them to search your car. One little "baggie" they drop and POW! You're doomed.
The Reid Technique is a police tactic (a form of torture actually) DESIGNED to get you to confess. Even if you're innocent, after 10 hours of constant "interrogation" you'll likely confess to ANYTHING! Sad, but true. |

Crakr - the police are supposed to Miranda you at the time of arrest, but before you are ever charged people should keep quiet. "Anything you say can be used against you". Nothing you say will be used for you. |

The police even tell you that you have the right to remain silent, it's called Miranda law. But you should stay silent even before they "Mirandize" you. |
