That she was disfigured makes a huge difference in the story, I wondered how one could possibly spend THAT much money! @MacGuffin has sorted that out. She's still abusing herself though, continuing to get 'work' done purely for vanity's sake.
Her kid's a real cutie! Why she'd ever need "corrective surgery" I'll never know! |

If she had her priorities straight, Mom would have the cause of her kid's severe ptosis (eyelid droop) checked out before worrying about cosmetic issues. |

I disagree, MacGuffin. It is very unfortunate that her boyfriend made her look like that, and that she then required surgery to make her look more human again. But there is -nothing- wrong with that girl, and -no- reason to want to help her get surgery. I believe she's giving the girl identity issues when she's still too young to have many, or any, and so this is a separate issue. |

@LordJim: Thanks for the additional info. Certainly puts a different slant on things when you realise part of the reason she had surgery was because she was left looking like this after being attacked by her boyfriend:

Apparently she was attacked by her boyfriend years ago and disfigured for six years. Plastic surgery gave her her face back so I guess she figures it is an unqualified good. Goes some way to explain it but, damn, spend the money on a therapist for yourself. Not on messing up your child. |
